Excellent review and plot: where would you place the Denon 4700? Into the blue tier?

I just got the 30. Love it! But I am using it in pre-amp mode running 7.1.4. I have 2 speakers I can use for front wides. My question is can I just use the amps in the 30 to power them? Will it let me assign 2 amps to them?

I ordered the 70s for the bedroom. After hooking it up, I jumped online and ordered the 30 (to replace my AV7705). LOL. I've been using Marantz for 15 years, and this new line is the best they've ever done.

the prices of these products are beyond every sense and logic. Products from 1200-1500 risen up to 3000 and beyond without ANY justifiable reason, there isn't any special component nor valuable circuit solutions inside them, all large-scale industrial stuff, ridicolous heat sink and power supply priced for its weight in gold

Definitely not worth changing. The only improvement would be using Dirac Live full suite. However, Audyssey does have their own version now.

@vforvendetta61935 ай бұрын
Probably it does by a little, i have the Cinema 40, bi-amped... so that you have an abundance of power to the speakers... The Marantz do Bi-Amp without any problems whatsoever... Awesome stuff. If you really want to go crazy... Go Av10 and Amp10.. from Marantz..

Can you run dual center channel on the m30? Top and bottom
@RipewaveXpress7 ай бұрын
The C30 supports a front height center channel. However, it doesn’t function like an over and under the TV center like the Sony models. The front height center the C30 supports works with Auro-3D layouts, not as a means to center dialog in the center of the TV like the Sony’s. -Jon

In you had to choose between the sony 7000 and the m30 what would you choose personally.
@whitecrowuk5753 ай бұрын
@@xpxtremedon’t want to budge in but for music Marantz, for movies could be a draw. Marantz has cleaner pre out section because it physically disconnects internal amps, Sony does not. Sony does better spacial effects though - but no good subwoofer integration. Ideally for movies with Sony you would have miniDSP with Dirac BC for subwoofer integration, external amp for main channels. Or simply getting amp for main LCR and Marantz with DLBC license. Also sometime later Dirac ART will be released and rumored to be supported by this gen - total game changer in room correction. I personally would go with Marantz on a premise of getting ART.

I have a question: I´m pretty sure that the Denon 6800 and the Cinema 30 have the same HEOS module. According to this video (19:48) ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/lV6bioV8bbN9p9U ...this module is a new version and better than the one from the 6700 and the 4800. Roland Krüger (Masimo) says it has more RAM. Do you have any idea, what that could be used for or in which way the new module is "better" ?

Thanks for raising as I was not aware of the improvements to HEOS in these latest models. It is worth investigating. -Jon

Jon, Perfect! I really appreciate your objective approach for the evaluation. My subjective view is the same as yours. There is a remarkable difference between Audyssey and Dirac Live. Dirac Live wins hands down. I have not done any testing with REW but may consider spending the time to do it. I’m not sure why one needs to make any adjustments to the Dirac Live results. It seems like most folks like to tweak the settings. I have not. I used the Audessey MultEQ app to set up my AVR-6700H and did not run it for the 6800H. Instead, I used the settings from my 6700H and applied them to the 6800H. I can’t imagine why that approach wouldn’t be OK. I have posted this response to both of your KZbin channels.

cheers for the info but i think you need to focus on the sound and not the graphs--- recievers are for the ears not the eyes--- we really dont care about graphs--- we want to know how it sounds, all the graphs and charts in the world mean diddly squat if it sounds bad, dirac, audyssey etc are all just marketing gymocks for the easily led, they make money from you--- it only changes distance and db, easier to do manually and a better result as your ears are the Oscilloscope, 😀
@RipewaveXpress8 ай бұрын
My aim is focus on both sound and measurements. I was producing videos which did not include measurements, and this audience asked for the measurements to be brought back. I agree. We need both. The measurements should always come last. I make my listening assessment first and then see if my observations can be explained using measurements. What the measurements is able to do is pinpoint where the problem is, then I can try to correct for it. My ears often just know it isn't right, not what is wrong. I agree that it is possible to achieve better result through manual calibrations rather then costly auto-correction tools. However, I find only a niche group of enthusiasts have the technical know-how and willingness to learn that skill and execute. Distance and loudness are important starting points and can be adjusted by ear. The more speakers and subwoofers you add, the harder it gets. I don't think I would be able to correctly select cross-over points and phase correction without a measurement tool (either manual or automatic). I do think you point is fair as I have experienced auto-corrections that fail to produce good results despite paying extra for them. In the case with my recent experience, I feel that the tools made improvements. I will attempt full manual corrections later this year, but that will be measurement assisted settings using REW. Jon

Do you think it's worthwhile to replace a X4800 with this?
@RipewaveXpress8 ай бұрын
If you need extra channels of processing, yes. Feature set is the same aside from DTS:x pro support which the extra channels give you on the x6800. It will come down to the sound quality difference which I am assessing now if this other items don’t matter to you. There is a case where someone just wants more power, then there is some benefit, but not a lot compared to the x4800. From the x3800 it is more compelling power improvement. -Jon

Jon, I suggest that you leave “Dirac Live” out of the names you give to your filters. It’s actually unnecessary and redundant.
@RipewaveXpress8 ай бұрын
Fair point now that I know how the Denon renders the filter. At the time I didn’t know what was going to present on the Denon side. Since Denon is going to label as Dirac Live, it is redundant as you say. Great suggestion. Jon
