Meanwhile when I try this one of three things happens: 1. I miss, I climb, the so called victim turns around and riddles me with enough cannon fire to decimate a roman legion 2. He's disappeared by the next dive. Where is he? Right behind you. 3. I somehow live, but I've depleted all my ammo with nothing to show for it.

Looks like he dematerialized against the sky! I switched off my anti aliasing and it helped with enemy planes suddenly dematarializing.

Yep , 190 A has superb roll rate and yes , you can extend away from Yak-1's and Hurricanes especially at altitude , So can the BF-109-F with it's excellent speed retention .

I fly the F4, G2, and G14 in “Aces High.” The F4 has a taller cockpit, but the G2 and the G14 are faster. My favorite is the BF109F4.

2:50 gee...you really think guys in combat were using this calculating methodes? From all the memoirs of the fighter pilots of the ww2 I have read I realized in this blink of an eye moment they were catching oponent in a gunsight, it was all other but this method shown in this part of the video

I got a chance to see a P-38 do an aerobatic routine at the Gathering of War Birds in Madera, CA sometime back... The pilot did the whole routine; The engines sounded like thay were working hard, not the scream of a P-51 for sure. He cut an engine and did the routine over again... Engine sounded like it wasn't working hard, just the low roar. Taking out one's engine just means things might be a little equal in the power department now. If the model is accurate, it's a zoom and boom beast. Had a chance to talk to a WWII P-38 pilot, back in the 70's, he loved it. Only problem he mentioned was lack of visibility underneath, so after making a pass he and the wingman blasted up and away, got separation and check things out before committing to anything else, he loved that no other aircraft could do that... If you knew how to use it, getting into trouble was a foreign concept - according to him.

Any wisdom on how to run the throttle+RPM on this thing? People have told me not to bind the two controls to the same axis but fail to explain why. What would the point be in ever reducing the RPM to less than 100%? Whenever I fly this thing it feels gutless as hell and cant even outrun a single engine 109 in a straight line.
@na851
@na851 3 жыл бұрын
It'll out climb some 109s though, so there's that. You want the RPM on a separate axis so you can keep your engine cool, so that you can abuse it later when you need to.

The 109s have field mods available under the equipment menu or whatever it's called. The one where you'd select e.g. 150 Octane in the Allied aircraft. You can remove the armored headrest but I believe it does increase the chance your pilot gets killed

The P38 was the most feared aircraft during WWII, no other aircraft including the P51 was its equal. In GB it can out climb and easily with your flaps out turn the just about everything in Game. It is my top aircraft for all situations. An awesome aircraft all the way around. Most feared by the germans. Didnt get called the Fork Tipped Devil for no reason.
@kyle857

The P38 was a great plane but the p51 drastically outperformed it at altitude. Your comment is silly.

There's a lot of 'rolling around a central axis' going on here which is of very limited utility. When you get one of these ass-wipes on your tail try pulling him into a modest high speed turn before suddenly reversing your lift vector, then applying some positive elevator. If done properly it's very difficult to follow.

This guy: Sees a black spot with two wings sticking out of it - "Hmm yes, looks like that filthy bolshevik Dimitri is using his I-16 to crop the fields again!"
