この「TODAY」が開始された当時、日本ではテレビ放送すら誕生していなかった。しかし、日本がテレビ放送を開始する当初から、こうした早朝生番組を立ち上げなくてはいけないのは、宿命付けられていた。だが翌年テレビ放送を開始したNHKも、同じ年に日本最初の民間テレビとして開局した日本テレビも、すぐにはやろうとはしなかった。後から開局した局、それも総合番組局ではなく民間教育放送局に、先駆的な全ての範になる番組を立ち上げさせたのだ。それが1964年4月1日に開始されたNET(現在のテレビ朝日)による日本版TODAY「モーニングショー」である。この「モーニングショー」を範にして翌年NHKも「スタジオ102」を開始し、そして日テレは「モーニングショー」が教育局の番組だというなら、我々も子供路線でと「おはよう!こどもショー」を開始。当初このように日本では、早朝のニュースショーは、登校前の子供に親と一緒に見せる生きた社会科教材と位置づけられた。日本の朝のニュースショーが、範となったアメリカ同様な趣旨の番組となるのは、NETが総合番組局•テレビ朝日に生まれ変わり、これを受けてNHKが「スタジオ102」を「NHKニュースワイド」に、日本テレビが「おはよう!こどもショー」を「ズームイン!!朝!」に衣替えさせてからとなる。

I remember seeing the begining of the special. I saw a clip from the very first broadcast of Today. Then my mom changed the channel. Guess she didn't want to see the special. I might've been doing homework. But I don't know. Or I might've been eating dinner.

I use to work at jax brewery mall back in 2001doing security one month before 9/11. At the top of it there's condos. Arnold schwarzenegger own a condo on top of Jax brewery back in the 1990's. The condos was on the market on the real estate websites a few months ago. Don't know if there still on the market? I went to the grand opening of the jax brewery mall back in 1984-85. During the News Orleans World's Fair Exposition. I barely Recognized john snell. I use to work at channel 4 for a short time. Dennis and Sally-ann were the best

Surprised to be the 2nd person to comment. This place was my go to for alot of things especially fudge,loved Banana Republic, and, getting lunch. I have pictures of when she was hit by a ship who had a captain that steered it perfect enough to keep from having alot more damage than it did. So glad to see it's stood the test of time after Katrina. 2024 and wish there were more that commented. Also,Sidney Bartholomew was a good mayor. 6yrs. I've been away and I miss that Mississippi River. ❤😢
