Ancient Indian religion is vedic religion. Indra,chandra,agni,surya,varuna,maruthu etc were the ancient vedic gods.vedic religion is not a asura brahmanic religion.rigveda give detailed information about it.they were called as sura or deva.all rishis are philosophical brahmin,not asura brahmin . Rishis were first to introduce the concept of brahma.I think indus valley period is considered as the emergence of asura brahmanic religion. Brahma,vishnu and shiva or the concept of trinity are the god of this religion. Asura brahmana emerged from sura brahmana.they were cousins. Their Ideological difference led to deva and asura conflict.mahabharatham tell about it. Kauravar were the devoters of brahma,vishnu and shiva and the pandavar were the devoters of indra,chandra varuna ,agni,vishnu ,rudra and surya.mahabali,prahlada,virochana,hirannya kashyapu ,ravana and kamsa were the belivers of asura brahmanic religion.vamana and parasurama were a sura brahmana, rama and krishna were a sura kshetriya and the belivers of ancient vedic religion.
