The reason for this is Angelina has the delicious genius of mixing a cocktail of emotions and then straining them to produce something complex but completely human. The emotional tension she creates by suspending almost contradictory ideas between her voice and the music is powerful, often bypassing the heart and mind in a direct assault on the nervous system. Go back and listen to songs like Now I'm The Fool, Love Don't Let me Go, I'm Still Holding Out For You and All My Fault. In this darker version of Bad Valentine there is more of a tone of apology, but said without regret. This is the magic we are experiencing.
