David is a Southern Gospel artist, although he will cross over to pop at times. In my opinion, best tenor in the world. You really need to check him out doing Oh Holy Night, and the cover he does of I Have Nothing by Whitney. Also, Let Freedom Ring with the Gaither Vocal Band, and last solo performance of" End of the Beginning" btw...he wrote No More Night and End of the Beginning!

Yes there were sound issues with this recording which made it hard to make out precisely what she was singing - but you must try the version at her Christmas concert: the same (great) song but so different (no reggae beat for one thing).... one of my favourites of her performances

Great reaction. Yes, one would expect that her jazzy tone doesn't fit Reggae too well, but then - OF COURSE - it does and so perfectly! Reggae coming from oppression and slavery turning into positivity and freedom fits the message of the song. It is so amazing to see Angelina grow.

Nice reaction. This is a camera recording in an auditorium, so getting optimum sound is iffy at best. But, if you are going to allow recording of your concerts, getting the room sound ready for that is critical. Just a month or so ago Angelina added a pro sound engineer to her team, so we may see some improvements going forward.

What will probably blow your mind is that Angelina performed a more “refined” version of this song at the Christmas concert at the El Rey theater in Los Angeles just a little over a month ago. The character of this refined version is more introspective and brooding. It helps to know that the betrayal AJ mentions was with her father, and it affected AJ’s Mom significantly. That is part of the reason that Sara is called out in this video and IMHO, this more “upbeat” version is more empowering… almost a validation and encouragement to her Mom (keep in mind that this is only my take on this song… purely speculation). This recent version is lyrically more understandable and if this doesn’t catch your attention… it is one of my favorite Angelina Jordan originals to date. 😳 I am really looking forward to hear what you think of it. This video is a little bit better than the others that are available - it is a multi-cam edit with enhanced audio. I wax as this concert and I don’t think the band was as overpowering as it may sound in this video. All videos of her concerts are made from cell phones which have limitations.

Hi sweetie! I KNEW you would LOVE this!! “Breakdown” is another ballad of theirs & it is much more well known than Crash. While I love Breakdown, it is that haunting piano, the lyrics, & Jonah’s voice that does it for me on Crash. Jonah is the lead singer/pianist, Henrik on bass guitar & Aron on drums. I mentioned it before but it bears repeating that ALL background vocals are done by Jonah, with the exception of 1 song (think it’s “Rock You” that Henrik & Aron sing background). He layers/stacks them like Brandy. So the “choir” in “Next to You” is just Jonah. Absolutely incredible! Their level of talent on their respective instruments is unparalleled & then throw in Jonah’s vocals? Sheer Heaven. I hope you continue to react to their music. I can honestly say I have yet to hear a bad track. They are sublime. Breakdown is a must. Rock You, & 2 collabs with guitarist Cory Wong, Follow the Light & Thriller. Yes, THAT thriller lol. Jonah channels MJ & Stevie Wonder at times. I believe he says they were influences of his growing up. I remember you mentioning you were getting MJ & Stevie vibes in your earlier reactions of them. Hello Adriana. Thank you for your honest reaction. It is admittedly difficult to discern some of the lyrics. Remember that professional recording by the audience is not allowed, and James Thiel, Chris Walker and others do brilliant work with their multi-camera edits of what are actually cellphone captures. The band seems to be a bit loud as well. This is a profoundly beautiful and powerful song, and I strongly encourage you to view the slowed-down, stripped-down version that she did at her December 14 concert at the El Rey theatre, as suggested in the comment by Angel @keithserafy (he included the link). That is of much better quality, and her rendition is more intensely passionate and emotional. The lyrics are also much clearer. I sincerely hope that they intend to release this in the near future.
