I love it how you carve nice and slow and calm so as a beginner I can actually see how's its done. Thanks. Other carvers goes so fast it's tough to observe what their doing.

Fantastic piece of art. Such great talent. Did it come easy, (for some it does, or work hard, with many mistakes overcome) to achieve that level? Great Owl, pun intended.

Thank you for posting this video. I am new to this art-retiring from teaching in a year-and I want to master the owl before I move on to bears or other things. You have helped me with the face of these birds. Lovely work.

Cutting trees 🌳 for this??
@sallyMaytree8 ай бұрын
No. I only use sustainable timber. Most of it comes from tree surgery waist. Trees that have unfortunately gotten too big are dying or unsafe to leave in people's gardens. This was a conifer that had to be taken down as it was in danger of falling over after storm damage.

Do you use any particular woods or have favourites? Or is it just what tree has come down recently?
@sallyMaytree9 ай бұрын
Hi, I normally try and keep a stock of Lawsons Cypress, as it's naturally rot resistant and easy to carve.
