F1 in Schools have constantly claimed that their project is the "largest school based STEM program in the world" with 20 million students involved. With this in mind why do you think their SCM channels have so few views and followers, and your channel has such meagre numbers?

I think throwing insults at OTT is counter productive, especially when we provide a free service with the sole aim of helping students who don’t have access.

Mr Bently, let's assume you're really interested in a response to your "questions". If these are genuine questions, then you should direct them at the F1 in Schools organizers. Asking a channel that helps students compete at this competition why they have "meagre numbers" won't give you any insights in to why certain decisions have been made by F1 in Schools organizers.

I think we’re going to see lots of students portray “STEM Racing” along with “formally F1 in Schools”. So far none of the reasons I’ve heard seem to indicate the change in name being beneficial for students as it’s now just another complication in explaining the competition and then getting sponsors for respective teams. Hopefully STEM Racing has more planned which hasn’t been revealed yet which will make this rebrand supportive of students rather than the burden so many have already shared.

You omitted the 3 most important questions: 1. Why was F1 in Schools told to change their name? 2. Why has Aramco cancelled their sponsorship. 3. Why has Re-Engineering Australia stopped participating in the project / why can they no longer secure funding to participate in the project?

Check out our interview with Andrew Denford if you haven’t already. It does not appear that aramco have withdrawn their sponsorship, as references to the 2025 World Finals on the STEM Racing website include them as title sponsor. The Australian Government withdrew their funding of REA due to a change in the grant process.

@@offthetrackmediayes I've seen it. It was a rather 'chummy' interview; just smoke and mirrors and didn't address the reason(s) that Liberty pulled the use of F1 in Schools title. I presume you have received confirmation that Aramco financial support will continue or are you simply presuming so? REA funding for the F1S project was cancelled. Is the timing a coincidence....I think not.

aramco is still listed as the title sponsor of the World Finals on the STEM Racing website. We have not heard anything to suggest aramco has withdrawn their support. REA's funding is unlikely to have been affected by the rebrand as they lost their government funding earlier in the year, prior to the rebrand announcement.

imo, since Denford kept talking about it being on a CV, connection to Formula 1 etc. Why not just chuck it into the FIA umbrella. FIA STEM Racing would, again in my opinion, sounds "better", keeping the ties to F1 but also broadening the opportunities to other FIA comps, and maybe making sponsorship easier (idk that's not my territory lmao)

Non profit😂😂. As a project manager of one of the teams it’s clearly no accessible for student across the globe due to how expensive simple things are. £500 pound of a pack of denford canisters. Must be taking the mick

This is a terrible move. I’m guessing Liberty Media group has something to do with this. Removing the F1 branding from the name is a backward step and suggests more is happening here than being let on. There are hundreds of web sites and competitions for young engineers that use ‘STEM’ in their title but there was only one ‘F1 in Schools’. Try searching for it now, imagine how hard that will be in 6 months time when these students want to gauge the interest of potential sponsors. Terrible idea. Shame on Liberty Media and Aramco for allowing this

Do you need to have a Professional experience to be a Judge in the finals?

You would generally need to have experience related to the area you are judging. However, many former competitors judge at the competition even though they may not be working 'professionally' in the field related to the judging area. Talk to your local ICC (organiser) if you are interested in judging opportunities.

Amazing tutorial, but I am curious about one thing; what is the point of modelling the wheels? Because correct me if I am wrong, arent teams required to use the pre made wheels which they sell on the store? Same goes for the wheel bearings and connectors.

This depends on your competition class. At the World Finals and in Professional Class, you can make your own wheel systems.

Since the recording of this video, Australian competition organisers have released separate regulations for Cadet and 3DP classes. Development and Professional classes still share the same Technical and Competition Regulations documents, however there is slight variations between the classes.
