The extent to which this film is being plugged on KZbin makes me suspect that it's another turkey and that the studios realize that already ? The more of these teasers I see to more I lose interest and Krypto looks nothing at all like Krypto by the way.

And here it comes the hit pieces, after the poor reception of the trailer of the Super Friends. What happen the bots didn't do good job enough? Mayber Warner Brother is really desperate after the failure that was that trailer and pay random KZbinrs to say how awesome the Super Friends trailers was, everyone had forgotten that trailer as soon as it was release. I wonder why? Maybe because Superman have his panties back? Maybe because you cant take the the character seriously.

I saw an interview with Zach "Slowmo" Snyder during production of "The Watchmen", and he stated something along the lines of I'll kill your Superman (suggesting he intended to deconstruct the hero long before he was hired to direct). Noone wanted that. Noone intelligent at least.

Life is brutal for so many, and movies have forgotten that storytelling is integral to making us feel part of something bigger and optimistic. I'm sick of IP for the sake of IP, and am hopeful for James Gunn to prove storytelling trumps IP. (I realize Superman is a monumental work of Intellectual Property to head off the well, actually comments).

11:24 my thing with this point is that…when you read a superman comic or any comic youll see other heroes but that doesn’t take away from the fact that you’re reading that character’s comic. When you watch john Wick do all of the cameos and other super assassins take you out of the movie? Or does your brain know you’re watching John Wick

Exactly! I’m sure Gunn will handle it well. I always wanted to see a live action movie that takes place in a world populated by superheroes like in comics or Justice League Unlimited. I’m very excited because this trailer is giving me similar vibes. We don’t need 30 origin movies to explain who they are, James is just inviting us to this world of superheroes and not like in MCU where superheroes are appearing in ours.

@ yup, this is a living breathing world, even creature commandos gave viewers an understanding of how this world is not our own. If people can escape to Westeros or to Middle Earth, they can escape to the DC universe. Especially since with the MCU people keep asking where the other heroes are in almost every solo movie. 😂

I appreciate your optimism but I'm not there yet. So far the movie does look like a remix of Donner, Snyder and Gunn which signals to me this incarnation doesn't have an identity of its own and more likely than not will feel like a greatest hits film. I loved MoS but I agree with all your points. I grew up with Reeves but those films are dated and a relic of the past. I want something new because there's so much lore to mine. I enjoyed the Snyder/DCEU take on the character but it's exciting to finally get a version of Superman that's... pure? He's not being deconstructed and broken down, he's not being made fun of, he's not being twisted into an evil despotic ruler, he's just "a guy that can save the cat" like you said. And online, I've seen more interest and love for this trailer and the character than I had even expected. I'm not the biggest fan overall, I'm still not 100% sold on loving it but I'm very positive.

ye the "modernization" of Superman, should be the modernization of all his cheesy, goofy and whimsical elements from his 50+ years of history, not getting rid of everything not realistic like cat saving, or the S curl and trunks or the bright colors. none of the first MCU movies were as divisive or controversial as Man of steel because its about having quality content that is true and inclusive to the character and their rich history

MOS was incredible, I was born in the early 80s, I was raised on Reeves and Keaton but superman never felt real just a comic book on screen, MOS grounded the character and made him feel real it was an amazing movie. WB then refused to allow MOS2 to be made as they wanted Batman included as soon as possible. BVS Ultimate Edition was also a really good movie, and then with WW and Zack Synder Justice League we could of had something very very special but for some reason the studio decided to get involved and destroy what we could of had. I personally won’t give Gunn a penny as his comments on kids turned me off him for life, but I hope others enjoy his vision and the DCU to come. 👍David will no doubt crush it as Superman best of luck to him. Really hope people enjoy it 👍
@orinorio1Күн бұрын
MOS and BVS were made for mature grown adults, both Movies along with JL showed what would happen if Superman went bad, Witch made those movies more interesting for me. Superman Returns also showed this in small scenes too , Always felt that the DCU should be dark and gritty where Marvel is light hearted and fun with positivity, seems Gunn as gone the marvel way with his take of this movie , when I saw the dog in the trailer I burst out laughing. This movie will be good due to it being overhyped and marketed to those who still want to be kids again even if it's bad it will be good as those who have hyped it up wont be able to back down.
@StopCallingMeShirley1180Күн бұрын
@@orinorio1 Bright and optimistic isn’t the “Marvel way” it’s the comic book way with some exceptions. Gunn will include both brighter fantastical stories and darker grounded stories, because both Marvel and DC have included a variety over the decades of their existence, otherwise fans would’ve been bored with it a long time ago. Btw the Snyderverse was pretentious, boring, and sloppily written throughout with very little to set the characters apart and make them interesting. DC deserves better.

nah. mos was ass. bvs even more so. gunn made a talking tree and a raccoon into household names, snyder was given 2 iconic A-listers in batman and superman and he ruined both. he was given THREE films with superman and he couldnt make the character soar. good riddance. have you seen rebel moon? yea.. keep him the f away from dc.

there's nothing mature or adult about mos. that's the thing about snyder fanboys... they cant distinguish between a grown up stuff and what a teenager thinks as the grown up stuff. snyder's idea of 'mature' is trying to make everything edgy and dark, while underneath it there's no subtance or anything worth saying.

I found MOS a yawn fest - tried watching it multiple times and have always clocked out early. He felt mangled to me. And after finding out more about Snyder it made sense. I’ve watched enough Snyder to realise he doesn’t understand character development at all. He’s an edgelord who never got past a pubescent understanding of manliness . He has the most vapid understanding of masculinity that the complexity of superman masculinity, a masculinity that is not self centred and is creative rather than destructive, beyond him. Snyder is basically “man punch man shows manliness”. Ugh. James Gunn is so much better at character so I think he will get superman better.

I know I am watching your video after 1 year. But I have a few questions that I am hesitant about. I am a huge fan of the Chronicles of Narnia series, I loved the three films that was done over a decade ago - same with the books. 1. Is Greta Gerwig able to capture the magic of Narnia? This will be a challenging thing for her to do especially when it comes to world building. 2. Can she stick to the source material that is in the books? I know directors and writers are not able to do that. But this is C.S Lewis’ work we are talking about. The series has very important themes and this has to be done just right. 3. We really need better written and fleshed out character development for the main characters. I didn’t like the way Peter was written and portrayed in Prince Caspian (the actor was fine, it was the way it was scripted and written etc) 4. What I am really curious to know about is - how will she write the portrayal for Aslan? He is an important character throughout the entire series. Is she able to capture Aslan’s wisdom, kindness, leadership… and to fully understand what he represents etc? 5. PLEASE let Liam Neeson return as the voice of Aslan. He voiced Aslan so well in the original three films that is what I imagined when I read the books. I can’t imagine no one else to voice Aslan - except for Liam Neeson himself. That is all I care about - I am sure other people may agree. This series is precious to me, I hope Greta will be able to rise up to the challenge.

According to James Gunn, this Superman will be more optimistic, while living in a dark world, and he will try to make that world better. I really like that because that's who Superman is. Superman has that mythic quality, which makes it ideal for telling great humanistic stories about right and wrong without it feeling to ‘on the nose’ or preachy. James Gunn clearly understands that, and wants to tell a story about a good man who embodies hope. I think that is part of why the trailer really resonated with so many people. We live in such cynical, often dark times. Superman is my favourite superhero as well, so I fervently hope he succeeds! Great video, by the way. 👍
