I am waiting for an acceptance to the candy cane cluster show Dec. 6 2024. This is a 4 day show in Woodland California. I acquired Oh Cappy, a male peke from Katerlings breeder of merit located in Coos Bay Oregon on May 30th 2023. His birthday #1 is Jan. 3rd 2025. Oh Cappy, My Cappy was a show prospect. I usually have females join the family, but decided to acquire a male. People, this is my 5th peke puppy that I am raising. There is pressure to neuter him but, I'm gonna try hard to show him one time. So I agree, what's not to love about cappy? He's got more fur than a polar bear. AKC & CKC shows ruined so many breeds, the best examples are the Teckel (Dachshunds) extra short legs, extra long necks, and bodies, too fat they can no longer hunt. German Shepherds are so angulated they can't be used as working dogs certainly not do Schutzhund or police dogs if they are from show lines. Labradors are so fat in the ring if they fall in the water the duck would have to rescue them so they won't drawn

YES, YES, YES!!!! There should NEVER EVER be a divide in dog breeds. ALL purebred dogs should be able to do the job that the breed was bred to do on Saturday and then go in and compete in the conformation ring on Sunday. I am starting to see this in dachshunds, and it pains me greatly.

An amazing breed and many of them can swim without problem. They are beautifully stubborn with huge personalities and give so much love

Not true about bulldogs not swimming. All my bulldogs swam and loved being in the water. Common misconception.

My parents had an English Bulldog that enjoyed swimming. He watched my Dad do it, so he was going to do it as well. Not a retriever level swimmer, but no problem staying afloat. He didn’t have the nose problems of many of today’s bulldogs, and was more athletic, especially in cool to just below freezing temperatures. A great tease of his was to pick up a 12 pound sledge gingerly by the hammer and run off with the handle sticking up in the air. Take care.

pubmed.gov has listed french bulldogs average lifespan at 4.2 years, yorkshire terrier 12-15 why is this (so called) scientific info by a governmental agency not given more exposure by the AKC?
