It's amazing how much better this looks. Good contrast in the lighting. Interesting set design. The blocking is on point. Why does it feel like the MCU stopped trying after Phase 1?

The acting of this scene was phenomenal. The pain of discovering he was adopted was poignant. The way Odin reached out to him was so sad... because, in spite of what Loki believed, he still saw him as his son.

You know it’d be an interesting timeline to see what would’ve happened if Odin didn’t fall into the Odin Sleep here. Hell maybe say he takes the sleep a day later or something, but regardless he makes it through this entire conversation. If he does would Loki go through with the plan to exterminate the Frost Giants, and does he end up with Thanos. Does this delay and full out talk keep Loki from turning into a full fledged villain.

Did they ever confirmed that Thor knew Loki was adopted at that time or did Odin tell him off screen before the first Avengers movie?

Yo - I wish I would have known about that 'Odin Sleep' tactic when my kids were hitting puberty, or when we couldn't afford Disney World that year, or when I ate the last piece of birthday cake, etc...I could have just said: "Why do you twist my words?" and then had a nap!

I do understand why people are making fun of Odin, BUT - he is an old, worn out god with a gift of foresight that tortures his mind with visions when he never really came to terms with the transgressions of his past. He faints when Loki cries out in despair, because he now sees yet another mistake caught up with him. A personal mistake, a father’s failure after entire life of lying to the child he loved. I don’t know, for me this is pretty believable reaction from somebody who is almost eternal, burnt out and tired - that he emotionally bends under weight of his deeds and their consequences.

Goddamn, Loki was so full of resentment and feeling of deception and betrayal that he just couldn’t see the truth. Odin had just waged a bloody war against the Frost Giants, lost scores of his people to them, his right eye, and in the midst of that battle, he found a baby Frost Giant, the offspring of his people’s mortal enemies…and he took that baby into his kingdom and raised him with as much devotion and care as he gave his own biological son. If that isn’t fatherly love, I don’t know what the hell is.
