What do you think about the contact cement dac? The red bottle one
@Levisrad16 күн бұрын
I haven't used that product, so I can't say. There's a good video called "Tolex 101: Glue" by Blackbird Pedalboards on KZbin. I used that as a guide when selecting a glue choice. I wanted to use the dap weldwood contact cement but I couldn't find it locally. So that's why I ordered the 'tolex glue' from nextgenguitars.ca. I believe it's the same as the Wilsonart H20 glue which is also hard to find locally in my area.

What kind of glue did you use? Is the tolex plushed? There's plastic back and plush back. I bought plastic and it doesn't work.
@Levisrad18 күн бұрын
i ordered 'tolex glue' from nextgenguitars.ca it's a specific type of glue for tolex purposes. The tolex I got was plasticky on top and canvas-like on the back. the glue soaks into the canvas to create a strong bond. I hope this helps a bit

Sanding sealer gave you that texture. That texture is the sealer not in the clear. The clear is showing you the texture Under it. Sanding sealer is for filling the pores and should be sanded afterward. It is not a primer so to speak. You need to level it, just to 320 or something. The next coat, the color will have 320 scratch to grab on too. A good thing because you are going to put enough solid color on it so that will be invisible anyway. Your color coat needs to be perfectly sanded for your gloss to shine up too. And compound - polish afterward. You'll get it keep trying.

It's definitely a worthwhile option, I recommend it if you've got the time and patience. I got this cab for $350, which is the cheapest I've ever seen in my local area. What do you use to strip out the guitar from the backing tracks, Levi? Great video. Looked this up because I went to the Gibson Garage in London this week. Stared at a 70s cream white explorer for a long time!
@LevisradАй бұрын
@@joshwhitlam9027 sometimes I’ll use AI apps like moises for that, and it works decently. But in this case, I tried to replicate the song section manually with midi drum programming, and tracking my own bass guitar before recording the lead guitar parts that are shown in the video. do you have to take out the electronics if you are doing it all by hand? Im thinking of just painters taping the pickups for primer
@Levisrad2 ай бұрын
@@cheeseburger7925 the best way to do it is to remove everything before refinishing, so you can sand better, lay the guitar body fully flat etc. that gives a more professional result. However, I’ve got some friends that played in punk bands, and spray-painted their guitars kind of like that, just masking off the pickups, bridge and knobs. It can work. It just depends on the kind of result you’re after.
