I bet you had trouble choosing a riff for James as he has used it from like 1985-present day

James has a LOT of cool riffs. I haven't even deep dive listened to all the Metallica albums, so I only know their most popular stuff. What are your fave Metallica riffs that I should check out?

Dave Grohl oddly enough made the Explorer cool to me. He did actually play a black Explorer during touring for their first album!
@Levisrad Жыл бұрын
Totally! I love what they were doing in those early years, their recorded live shows from the 90s/00s are great to watch, and he really does make the Explorer look good!

All of these songs are absolutely killer. Nice work

Thanks! All the artists who created these riffs and songs are immensely skilled, & recording some of these riffs was really difficult (like Sharp Dressed Man), even though the riff is pretty simple. The 'attitude' the riffs are played with makes all the difference!

What do you use to strip out the guitar from the backing tracks, Levi? Great video. Looked this up because I went to the Gibson Garage in London this week. Stared at a 70s cream white explorer for a long time!
@Levisrad3 ай бұрын
@@joshwhitlam9027 sometimes I’ll use AI apps like moises for that, and it works decently. But in this case, I tried to replicate the song section manually with midi drum programming, and tracking my own bass guitar before recording the lead guitar parts that are shown in the video. Thanks! That’s sweet, I haven’t ever been to a Gibson Garage, but i can imagine! Those guitars are a work of art.

Not sure if this counts but Jeff Carlisi, lead guitarist of 38 Special used what at first glance looks like an Explorer on all of their albums and tours. It's actually an Explorer clone made by luthier Jay Rhyne using Allen Collins of Skynyrd's Explorer as a template. Like Collins Explorer it's blonde maple, and Carlisi was able to create really incredible lead tone with it. If you search for the Caught Up In You vid Carlisi plays it in there.
