The folding lixada was rhe first wood stove I had and frankly, the worst. You can see the problem a bit in your video, but it gets much worse with bigger pots. The pot puts the fire down and after a minute or so, you have only smoke. I threw it away. The gasifier like the one you have works much better. I dont care about feesing, bevause it easily burns clean for 15-20 minutes without refilling. And consumes like 1/3 of the wood.

6 yrs late but you can cut and add some coat hanger stabelizer hooks to the top of the lixada. this also helps against the expansion from the fire and your pot falling into the fire. Also with the ohoho, I would use a grill or grate cut to size and then you can use any size pot or cup.

I have a 5 series BMW I take the head rest out if the passenger seat recline it as much as possible, then I layer it with cushions and put a box in the foot well. And then stick a thick foam mattress with blankets and a duvet. For food I have fashion packs. And everything else is stuff I have at home

Lixada hands down because of price, packability, weight and ease of use. Not only can it run off twigs but it can also run off an alcohol stove or esbit fuel tabs. I use this stove all the time, doesn’t cause hotspots unless using thin gauge material like titanium.

Did you know on the gasifier stove, you flip the pot supports “in” if you want to use a smaller pot or cup like the Stanley?….i do that and it works perfectly…..

THE best and lightest wood burning stove is the TRAIL DESIGNS TRI-TI or the smaller SIDEWINDER. Both use an INFERNO inverted cone insert to create a true gassifier stove that burns the gasses given off in initial combustion that would otherwise be wasted. Plus this stove rolls up into a small Tyvek sleeve. As well I c=comes with an alcohol burner and ESBIT fuel tablet burner. I use ESBIT for 3 season camping and wood for melting snow.

Let's take disposable off the list please. If you're in nature, the LAST thing needed is more trash!! You can easily bring your own utensils, etc to rinse off. If you're not cooking, then less is more!

3 months and I’m sick of it lol. I am old & grumpy though and being stuck next to a freeway for ten years is worse. It helps being 5’3” & thin but I don’t have the energy. Those “Hot Hands” things work well. Air activated with iron, like rust.

What helps to get less trash is that when you arrive at a place and you see trash there, take it away. People are less likely to throw or leave something on the ground if there is nothing there. Litter attracts litter. I did that 3 weeks ago at a parking spot in Scotland. There was trash everywhere,. I have taken out a trashbag and put all the trash in there, even the diapers with the poop!!! I left it in the bin at my B&B (I asked first of course) When we returned 2 weeks later there was still no trash at that parking space.

And lots of cell data. Also, bear spray and learning how to use it may be helpful. Watched a video how a girl got the bear spray when a bear was in attack mode so no time to read the directions. She got mauled.

This is pure genius, but is it just a matter of the flame touching the metal rod for it to charge the battery? Obviously asking because in certain circumstances I would need to burn gas instead and it would be fantastic to charge anything with that flame, killing 2 birds with one stone, on paper at least…. I mean I get that this is both more and less than that at the same time, and that it might be in their better interest to actually limit the product’s versatility, but it would also be a shame to see something so potentially useful vanish from the market for being too nitchy…

I wrote down my list of gear to bring for my family car camping trip. Im at 3 pages without food and clothing. I understand going minimal but im about 10k into gear right now. I realized my solo gear doesnt really apply to family camping with an infant and dog so I basically had to buy everything again.

Just pack some sandwiches or something. Food doesn’t really need refrigeration if you’re just going for a weekend unless it’s uncured, uncooked meat. Bring utensils from your home kitchen. Bring your pillow and a cheap sleeping bag. There’s one item I did pay a bit more for that has been so much better- the Exped Duo sleeping mat fits perfectly in the back of a Subaru Crosstrek and probably the Outback and Impreza, too.

I love little pack stoves, out of those three I don't have the solid fuel one. I have two gasification stoves, one is a stainless steel one similar to this one and the other is a smaller boundless voyage titanium one, the larger SS one I've got close to an hour of useful heat on a single fill no adding fuel after lit and the smaller Ti one between 30-40 min. With the gasification if filled right and lit from the top you get the best burn with little difficulty, I do prefer my smaller Ti one. I have various hinged (lixada on the way) or slotted put together stoves, for both types I love how little space they take up and with the hinged how easy they flop open to assemble. Great video,
