Hi Rachel...great video! I was wondering what is the over all length of the finished hanger from the ring to the bottom gathering? Thank you so much!

Can i make a 26in length mat with the same length of cord? That is 4 yards

Im also wondering how long the shortest (if all were the same) cord was after the gathering knot.

Im wondering if the cords end up the same length at the end? Or how much shorter/longer some are : ) how much cord did you cutt off to still have the long tassle?

I enjoyed the clear explanation in the video. I am so sorry if it is mentioned somewhere, but I could not find a reference to how long the hanger is when it is finished, before adding the pot. I realize the final length will vary depending on pot size, so it would be helpful to know the size of the pot shown. Thank you for this information.

I never saw her swap strings. If you kept the pattern going with the same strings, two strings were left long and Two short per arm???
@elizabethueltschy8924

Yep. And at the end after she does the gathering knot you see longer strings and shorter strings. She could have swapped them right before doing the spiral sections but she started out with really long cords to begin with

Thank you very much for this tutorial. What is in general the maximum size of a flower pot if i want to hang it up with a macrame plant hanger? Would be 30cm too big?

TYSM for this video! if i wanted to make it just a bit skinnier and smaller (for a mason jar), would you just take off a strand on each side or would this mess up the whole equation?

Unfortunately not. You could treat them with scotch guard or just use as a decorative setting when not actually eating.

Can I just ask, for the half twisted knots, is it 18 of those or 36 as you're just going one way. For the square knots for example it was 36 but 18 knots.? Thank you.
@RachelColton
@RachelColton 5 ай бұрын
Yes. It will twice as many since they are half knots. You can also just knot until both sections are the same length.

Hi Im making this . I'm using black & white . In this order all the way along the dowel , I'm making sure that I have 2 white & 2 black strands in every knot , but some of the squares are coming out in either solid white or solid black !? Why ? Can I fix that somehow ? Thanks
@RachelColton
@RachelColton 4 ай бұрын
Since the knots alternate between the strings I believe you will have some solid white, some solid black, and some mixed.

Thank you for this helpful video! I have a different brand shade that has a lifetime warranty if it breaks. We have had them since 2010 and this was probably the third one. The store fixed it but I wanted to install it since the brackets were already installed. The store only has pdf instructions, and I am not handy at all. I saw a few KZbin videos but yours was clear! It went right into place and didn't cost me anything to have to hire a blind installer. Noe IO know what to do! Thank you!

This is exactly what I was looking for. I have a huge plant I want to hang and it's not going to fit in the average-sized hanger. The way you showed this, I can easily see how to adapt it to a larger plant. Such a beautiful yet simple design. I am off to Hobby Lobby now! Thank you.

How do we tie off the end to stop it coming undone?
@RachelColton
@RachelColton 8 ай бұрын
Hi! You don’t need to tie off the ends. You can make your last knots tight and they may loosen a bit but will the front they should be fine. You can also tighten them up later if you see them coming loose but you should be fine.

Is it normal for the two strands you're working with to become shorter than the other two?
@RachelColton
@RachelColton 8 ай бұрын
Yes. The woking stands get used up faster than the filler strings. You can incorporate a switch knot to keep the strings even or you can save your extra cut offs at the end for smaller projects like earrings.

You have a couple options. You can start over with longer strings. Or you can undo some of your knots so that you have enough string to make the bottom portion. Or you can undo some of your knots and make a switch knot where you swap the inner and outer strings so that you have more material to work with. I hope that helps!
