why could you not just do what you do with a straw in your drink, by plugging the end of straw with you thumb and lift up ?

Hey Lou amazing to see my friend and I like all the paint tips in the table saw fence tips I would highly recommend no long sleeves near the table saw you know in the past how those have been some horrific injuries and you know all the people watching this may not have heard those stories definitely no fabric bracelets necklaces anywhere near that saws or moving machines

Thank-you for posting step by step instructions. I think this is the dory I am going to make for my brother as we are in a landlocked province it should do just fine.

Great job, but seems like you're not laying the pieces of wood at 45 degrees to start, then successive layers at 90 degrees to the previous layer??

Most of the boat yards I've been in require that pairs of poppet stands be chained together, when a boat is put up on the hard. I might skip that, if it was only going to be a day or three, and the weather forecasts look good, but if high winds came up, I'd really want the chains in place. And I'd want to make sure the boat isn't on ground that will get spongy if it rains. I might go as far as to trench around the boat, to make sure runoff doesn't erode the support.

I'm new to working to carbon fiber. Wondering if you could create a vacuum bag to suck the carbon/kevlar down tight.

You eliminated the diversity in those runners by replacing the only white oak runner with a red oak runner.

Good day Sir, I am past 50 years of age and I find your videos fascinating, so I subscribed to your channel. I am considering either building a boat from scratch or purchase a kit to build. I am on a budget an desire a simple boat that can accommodate a outboard motor. I loved your boat on episode 37 "when a skiff comes together" If you have time to comment what is a good budget for a boat like that? thank you so much for your time!

So can anyone show me any proof at all that somebody did not just upload some B roll again to keep things going while Lou may still be out of commission? Not a single word about Orca in this video ...was this ahout 2 years abo maybe? He was out for a year, than uploads a shot video, never says a word about the year absence. It's just feels a bit off.
@barryrollins272828 күн бұрын
Its really disappointing that the build of Orca goes no further than 12 episodes! So miss something to follow from the shipwright and using large lumber! I had liked and substituted .

When I went to boatbuilding school all the older instructors modified the tools, usually removing all the safety features. This man is a national treasure.

I know this video is a year old now, but I'm curious whether you considered reaching out to Adam Savage for some prop recreation help? Quint's fishing rod in particular looks like something exactly up his alley that he would do in a One Day Build. A collaboration between this channel and Tested would be incredible!

You, sir, are a genius. I just got a planer, and it looks like I’ll be making some minor adjustments. Using a piece of pipe for a handle to cut more accurately at an angle is a great idea! 👍😺 Thank you!

It is a bit sad that you have to start modifying tools to make them work properly after paying hard earned money for them. There are many tools that are not even pssible to modify to make them right, just bad design!

I think I know the reason for the excess blade length. These planes are set up to do rebates ergo the extra length.
