Wonderful video Jeff. I love your well articulated delivery and I liked the video. So, what exactly is the final verdict on triple pane window in a cold country? Does it prevent heat from escaping and/or does it keep the house even remotely as warm as a brick wall? Or it is just a tripe pain :-)

Would be nice if you described what's wrong with the windows and what makes them cheap, other of course than the price we do not know.
@HoustonWindowExperts9 сағат бұрын
Cheap, as in junk. These windows failed because the glass systems were junk. Essentially, they were built to get out of the warranty period and that's all they cared about.

Thanks for watching my videos and for your question. We operate in Houston and the Dallas/Ft Worth area. However, we have great relationships with so many wonderful window dealers all over the. Country. I started a website where you can see if we have a trusted window company in your area. Perhaps I can point you in the right direction? Check out TheWindowExperts.com for a dealer near you! 😂I had a local high pressure window company interview me. After taking their 45 minute personality test, we went over their sales process -nwhich was exactly as you describe. 3hr pitch with both decision makers and up or down decision on them spot. I told them, heck no. Owner called me back and said he liked me because we had a lot in common. Called me "slick". Glad we were on the phone so I couldn't punch him.

What about the maintenance for fiberglass?? Anyone with a boat knows that you have to paint it every year or it cracks and flakes.
@HoustonWindowExperts9 сағат бұрын
You must work for Pella or Andersen. That's one of the common myths used to sell against it. This requires zero maintenance. It's an acrylic finish, not a gel coat.
@Broncs783 күн бұрын
Great comments on the 2 . I must say having the option of Anderson certified installers was the selling point for me, if issues arise with window last thing you want is for the window company to balk and say nope it was installed incorrectly.

I make and install crimsafe and honestly prefer other market alternatives like screen guard and prowlerproof forcefield, available in Australia. I don't like the crimsafe screw system it looks ugly and screws can strip and also it is not as clean looking as others

How much does the size of the window impact the cost, is there a rule of thumb for like cost per sq ft of glass? For example what would a 4' x 7' fixed Andersen composite or Pella impervia window go for in a new construction home?
@HoustonWindowExperts3 күн бұрын
When sizes go up, sometimes the glass must be thicker for safety reasons. When that happens, the cost can go up quite a bit.

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, there are no Marvin Infinity dealers that service my area. But there is a lumber store in my area that sells Marvin Essential, Elevate, and Signature. I think in one of your videos you said that Marvin Essential was more like "Chevy" and that Infinity was more like "Cadillac". In another video, you said that you much preferred Marvin Infinity over Pella Impervia. But since I only have Marvin Essential available to me in my price range, which do you recommend for composite windows in the Northeast U.S. climates, Marvin Essential or Pella Impervia? Thanks!

I've sold Marvin Infinity, it features cardinal glass and is a very strong frame (which is a moot point since it is not load bearing) but it carries a low expansion rate, despite their claim of scratch resistant they do scratch (seen them get scratched during install)...a very expensive product...I would also recommend Endure by Provia...sold them for years...outstanding product with lots of very nice features.

I’m looking for our 86 year old mom’s house. She’s lived there for over 50 years and hers are worn out. They leak. My question is, from the inside, she wants it to open on the right side. Do I order right side open or is it ordered by looking from the outside in? By the way, she lives in SW Florida

Anlin Designer Black Series - We are in Colorado, 6500 feet with harsh direct sunlight - we are in a 1960s stucco home and interested in Black windows.. Everything we read says to avoid black vinyl windows when dealing with sunlight (Warp, Rust, too much Expansion). Do you believe the Anlin Designer Black Windows are different and we should consider them?.. Our current top choice non vinyl window is the Windsor Pinnacle Clad.. But I'm not overly excited about a wood interior window.. Thoughts? Thanks much - have spent hours watching your videos.

Hi Jeff, I’m in the process of changing out my sliders and windows in my house in Scottsdale Arizona. Question - What do you think of the IWC (International Window Corp) windows, Ambassador series? Is this a quality window or doors? I received a quote for these type of windows but I haven’t heard that much about them. Should I try and stick with Western if all possible? I appreciate any advice you can share with me. Thank you!

The 1 question I wish I would have asked: WILL THESE WINDOWS TURN MY WHOLE HOUSE GREEN AND DARK? I didn’t ask that because I never fathomed residential windows would be green! NO ONE DOES. WHY??? The samples weren’t green and I have the same windows in my previous condo, but apparently low-e windows are greener/darker now than a decade ago when we purchased the first set.
@Jordichurch7 күн бұрын
$15k-$20k most likely but a very nice product for sure.
@buffyfermino43617 күн бұрын
THANK YOU!! You are the only person on the web or in person who is honest about the green cast of low-e. Most of the industry is pretending there’s not much difference, if they talk about it at all. Low-E glass ruined my entire home. It was bright and airy and now it’s a greenish vampire cave. The green-gray cast gives me a headache and changed the color of the paint on the walls. Our salesman never mentioned it, although we asked tons of questions and read all of the documentation before purchasing. In fact, we bought the same windows we had in the previous home. The salesman told us that the coating is different now and that the green cast isn’t a big deal once you get used to it. Worst experience of my life in homeownership and I’ll be sitting in a puke-green living space for years to come. Again, thank you for providing clear information!

I'm sorry to hear that. Cardinal is the best at preventing that. Maybe you got another brand of glass? By the way, you could swap the glass if it's that bothersome. (Albeit, expensive).

This is absolute GOLD! I’m an outside sales rep for a bath remodeling company. Great company, but it’s this one call close nonsense. This is 2024 and in H-town, most people are hip to the 1980s tactics of “today and today only”. I previously sold windows for a well-known “factory direct” company from Florida, and they had a “one call close” approach that, the more you sell it for, the more you made. I didn’t like that. Hahahaha, “bounce up and down on the window”? I started out with that company! Good sir, if your company isn’t hiring for reps who appreciate your approach, do you know any companies in H-town who are that use a present-day, non-sleazy approach?

I had okna 800 series installed last year and so far it has been excellent for north east winter but Jeff is correct that it is very bulky. The windows are great functionally but the bulkiness of the design decreases a lot of glass space and not as aesthetically pleasing as other brands. At first i liked the look of the frame design but i think i would have preferred something simpler if it means having more glass. Also at the 11:15 mark, Jeff notices that the locks dont always line up when you close the window. I noticed that as well on mine when i first got it but i realized that when you close the bottom, the top window might actually slip down very slightly and cause a mal-alignment of the sash lock. All you have to do is make sure the top AND bottom windows are completely pushed closed (top all the way up, bottom all the way down) so they are aligned correctly when locking the window (a bit tedious but a very minor design flaw). I'm not exactly sure why the top half comes down a little when i close the bottom, could be due to the magnetic seal causing a little shift and pulling down? Either way, still very good quality vinyl window for a reasonable price. Overall i am happy that my home is warmer and the windows are definitely top quality and great on their features.
