Great video! Just got interested in tying big streamers after fifty plus years of tying! Go figure. When applying the eyes I've used a drill bit to put a little reverse taper in one of my bodkins to use to push the eyes in place. I also take a small piece of wax paper to fold over the top of the fly so I can pinch the eyes in place with out becoming part of the fly!!

Where can I find this material in bulk, or say, at least a little more than what's purchased from fly shops? I'm all for supporting the mom and pops, but I'm fairly new to all this and trying to watch the budget. Thanks

Such a productive fly, the OG model with the antron white wing in this color, or black is killer still... Caught some on it today...

Hans, I tied a few of these very similar to the UK versions (snake fly) last month. Tried them in local lake recently and caught some very nice trout. Made mine 2 1/2- 2 3/4” long just doubled the braid on first hook and glued it. None ever pulled it out. I also cut off the first hook, just using the stinger in rear. Used bead chain eyes on the head. Going to tie some with the fish skulls to try. It’s a killer pattern ! Going to try some with magnum zonkers for bass! Really enjoy your videos !!

I'm glad I'm not a squirrel in your area, I recall some squirrel used on some of your steelhead flies. Hope you are doing well, Hans!!

It should be noted that the keel on the rear hook is critical to the swimming motion, and you left it out.

Hay Hans : Ken from Calgary ,Alberta Canada. I love tying midges and my supplier always say's "why" to me when they ask what I'm tying today. But at 71 my eyesight is still good, with the help of my new Stonfo magnifying glass I purchased yesterday ,so your posting this pattern is bang on time. Thanx Hans. tight lines.👍✌

If you cut your yard in half, tie it down and then fold it back and tie that down it makes for a more sturdy fly. It can not slip out as easily after a long soaking and a couple dozen fish. Just a suggestion.

I've just watched five videos on tying this fly and I like your method the best. I have entire pheasant hides from my hunting, so I may try feathers other than the tail for the legs.
