Interesting video. Good delivery. The clam shell holsters were a horrible idea. I wonder if the inventor / maker / marketer "greased the palm" of the department procurement officer ---?

Very interesting video. I had a great teacher at MT.SAC college in Walnut, California "Patrol Procedure" class back in 1974/1975. The teacher was a "Real deal" man ---> L.A.P.D. S.W.A.T. Sgt Ron ________ . He was at the L.A.P.D. shoot out with the S.L.A. and was awarded the L.A.P.D,. Medal of Valor.

Hostage Rescue for dope! Did a couple of those, but I never lit the Jeri-curl on fire with a NFDD. I did flashbang a grandma, but that's another story...

Miss Louis Awerbuck. Great classes I took with him and Scotty. I relish my squidlips moniker. If you're in SoCal, go train with ITTS.

I never met Frank, but I worked with his brother Robert out of Van Nuys Div and Robert was also an awesome guy. Still talk to him to this day and he makes the best pocket holsters.

Another bad thing about the clamshells were the way they flopped around if you were in a foot chase with a suspect. You either had to tolerate all that flapping or run with your hand on it. Top/front break holsters were probably the better holsters for field duty.

In 1996 I did my academy 3 day ridealongs in Newton Div. My first day out I worked with Officer Rick Madrigal. Same thing...while I was writing in the log, every time he turned I'd look up at the street signs. The ONE time I didn't he suddenly stopped midblock and said he'd been shot. There I was, at night, running down the street in my academy issue leather oxfords, long sleeve shirt, and tie, with a flashlight up to the next corner to read the street signs. I realized he'd been watching me the whole time out of the corner of his eye to catch the time I didn't look up.

I remember getting hazed in my profession. I look back now and laugh.some of it was funny some of it embarrassing but overall it was a right of passage. Now that im at the peak of my profession i am forced to take sensitivity training. People can sue and win for getting their feelings hurt. 😂

I queued this up while still working and barely looked at the full title. I thought it said Jerry Lee Lewis. After watching, and waiting to hear how the meetup with him went down and it turned out to be Jerry Lewis the comedian, it made it even better.

These are much more creative ways of messing with a new guy. In the army it was much more juvenile as most sgts were no more than 21 years old and not very creative. Great story. Respect for old school policing.
