I have a large one of these in need of a restoration. Not sure if I want to mess with it as the sliding to the rear mechanism doesn’t really make sense for a good bench vise. No clamping vertically.

Beware of armature compatibility problems! The new armatures do not fit in these old saws. The part number is obsolete.

I've had one of these for over 25 years. Those two little wings broke a long time ago. Still the best splitter I've ever used. The head design is fantastic, even without the wings.

Awesome result but not very practical for most people. I'm not sure I know anyone that has lye baths, electrolysis setups, etc.. Fantastic result though.

Bad restoration is better than no restoration I think, but not by much. Sorry Bro, no primer coat and you left the rust on the bottom side and didn't even bother to paint it, and where you did paint it was uneven. Nice video. Big thumbs down on the restoration.

I like that you use a wood maul to drive the handles on, I see lots on KZbin use steel hammers, 😮 not good for the handle ends.

Love the look and the handle and the grunge lookof the cleaver is beautiful 🤩! If you can spend an Hour sharping it, it will be a much sharper and better chopper blade.

It would be nice to know the vintage of that particular lodge skillet. The style of the logo and the three notches make me think it was old.

I restored an old Stanley Handyman a few weeks ago. It was my first one. It's videos like this one that helped me do it right. I was getting some nice curls off of walnut and oak so I think I did a pretty good job.
