His voice is a combination of buck Owens and George Jones. He could have really took off with this song as a great first time drop. But do to poor song choices and bad management, he never in my opinion, never quite reached the level he was clearly due. Great singer and great song.

I wasn't a fan of how Nashville started to slice and dice country music in the early to mid 90s but this song was a toe tapper

I cry every time. I lost 3 friends in Vietnam not too long after our 1965 graduation. I miss them and often think of the precious lives lost, my friends and all the others too

I think this song was fresh on the radio in late 94/early 95ish…1995 IMO was the last of the really best years of country. 2001-2007 to me made a decent comeback (to my taste that is) but went on the decline after and hasn’t been the same since (for the worse).

Clever interaction with David Ball and Neal McCoy. Two very underrated country artists. Both are Amazing dudes and singers. I got to open shows for both of them. Truly great country artists and men.

My grand dad used to play this on his guitar and play it for me when I was a kid. He was going to teach me to play guitar but he passed away in 2017 before he could. I recently learned how to play this song on his guitar in memory of his.
