This song grabs my heart and drags it straight back to my daughters father. It’s been 24 years and my heart and mind still slip and fall down that rabbit hole. We made a great kid and have two amazing grandsons we are just like fire and gasoline. We crossed paths in 2016-2018 and he still breathes a life into me that nobody else could ever compare to. It’s 2:00am and I’m listening to this for the first time in many years. Like you, my Ex wife and I were like fire and gasoline. We were married in 1990. Within three years we were separated. It was a tumultuous and rocky relationship. We still saw each other and dated during our separation. One time She had been out of town on business and called me to join her at the motel she was staying at. I drove down there and we spent the night together. While we were together, this song played on the radio. I wished that we could stay just the way we were in that moment. I spent a lot of years hoping for what might have been or could have been. After three and a half years of separation, we got back together. It did not last and we ended up divorced after ten years together. I am in my sixties now and have a good life but every so often my mind will go back to that special place and time and I feel that old familiar pain..

I haven’t heard this song in 20+ years! Haven’t seen her since ‘97 in college Texas Tech. My first love. We both moved on to others. I’m sure she’s doing well as I. BUT every once in a while as I’m driving on a highway and out of nowhere that old feeling hits me. Last verse still gets me: “It can happen in the dead of the night or any day of the week…I still have that dream about you!” She’s probably forgotten me but I haven’t forgotten her. KP thank you for that time in my life, great memory!

Tried to catch just q glimpse of you, coming out of the ranch on that lonely stretch of highway 60..just a week before you were taken tragically on that same road. Rest In Peace sweet Danny. You are free now, and I won't try to outrun the thought of you now , like I have for so many years. You love me and my kids and grandbabies so well and so much. Thank you. I am so sorry I didn't get to tell you one last time this side of Heaven. I know you are up there, doling out those big and beautiful bear hugs to everyone who has gone before us. And thank you for loving Jesus, for giving us that comfort. So that when the thought of you catches up with us, we know we have eternity to catch our breaths...ride those hills..gather those cows and love on em...I can just see you and Buttercup!!!

Also got to hear and see him perform it live when he opened up for the late, great Conway Twitty @ the Roanoke Civic Center, Roanoke, Virginia....oh so many moons ago that was....David and the band was doing mic tests earlier the day of the show when I went to get my ticket! I feel for your losses...I know em well...I was too young to have memories when my Mother was taken. My whole life, I've been missing someone I never knew. By the time I hit Jr High, I lost my Mother, both sets of Grandparents, most of my aunts n uncles and a couple older family friends, who were there day I was born. So they were part of my Family to me...they were a couple of Real Old Time Cowboys, Good Hands, and They made a young boys life pretty interesting! Ya never get over those Lost Ones...Ya just find a way to live with that Pain. You were Blessed to have them thru many years! Memories of them all! So part of them will always be with You!

It can happen any moment Without reason or rhyme It might be right around the corner Or it'll come up from behind A picture that I thought would fade I still clearly see When the thought of you Catches up with me it can happen on a Sunday drive The sky above a shade of blue Headed down some lonesome highway Then you come into view Mile after mile goes by But you're all I see When the thought of you Catches up with me when the thought of you comes to mind It'll carry me away to a better place and time it can happen in the dead of night Any day of the week Sometimes you'll come find me When I'm in bed asleep And I'll have that dream about you I sure love what I see When the thought of you Catches up with me

Remembering my cowboy who is gone, riding another range- he's still out there riding fences, you just can't see him from the road. Crying now, but looking forward to the day I will be with him again & both be in a better place & time. Years back I met a lady whom I madly in love with, we virtually did everything together and in common, we cared about each other, I was her first man though she was older than me by 3years, but we fell apart along the line that we couldn't reconcile back together though after many attempt to fix it, but this song just reminded me the fact that I still miss her, truthfully her thoughts catches up with me virtually every day, the memories we had together are unforgeable.
