Good video. Great options for e-gravel bikes. If Trek could put the TQ motor in their new Checkpoint and keep the wieght down, I think they might have a winner. Also, just for future reference, Mahle is pronounced like 'mah-ley'. Mah as in ma and pa.

I have a Santa Cruz Chameleon that came 27.5 x 3.0 and it is the best feeling hardtail for me. A friend had a Trek Stache that ran 29 x 3.0 and he loved it and recommended it. After a bunch of test rides I bought the Chameleon which just felt more agile but still had the plush Plus Bike feel. I hope the 27.5 tires continue to get made, I can convert the Chameleon to 29 but I like 27.5
@TysRides8 күн бұрын
I looked at getting a Chameleon when I bought my Stache years ago but ended up finding the Stache gently used for a good price. I hear you on the 27.5. Seems like that is starting to be phased out.

Bikesdirect deserves credit for introducing the concept of the gravel bike back in 2011 with the original Zilla. I had one. Back in 2011 people were flummoxed by the concept but look at gravel bikes now! Marin doesn't even have road bikes in their lineup, only allroad bikes. The original Zilla was horrible, stiff as a board, but the latest Zilla is completely refined.

I'm all budget. My carbon bike is a Framed Basswood carbon, with Apex 1x11. Paid 2k. Put on a set of carbon wheels and it has thousands of miles on it. I decided a year ago to add an aluminum frame gravel bike and Jenson had the Rocky Mountain Solo 30, with the same Apex 1x11 groupset, for $1k. It was originally 1700. I couldn't pass that up. Both mechanical, both 11 speeds and they do everything I want and I don't feel they hold me back at all. Good video!

No doubt. When I got into the sport years ago, a brand new aluminum bike with 105 was about $1200. When I originally filmed this video and did research, the Canyon was actually $1600. I thought that was pretty good. Then, when I went to edit the video, the price had gone up to $1800 overnight. Still not a terrible price in today's economy.

I think the Grizl is such a cool and versatile bike. All these bikes on this list are still probably overpriced, with the exception of that one. When I originally researched for this video, that bike was actually $1600 and then the price went to $1800 overnight.
@CleverSmart12319 күн бұрын
@ yes agree, for gravel racing it could be even lighter (myself too) but else it’s doing its job no matter what I do. Let’s see if the prices correct bit down in the next two years. I don’t see the bike brands sell enough bikes in this economy without lowering the prices.
