You do the best bike review videos by far! Incredibly useful and informative and the bikes are all decent, practical good looking choices.

@Wombat8003 ❤️ that means a lot!!! Thank You! I try to get to the point and not make the videos too long, but cover the important stuff. Maybe one day I'll get to the point where companies will actually send me bikes to actually test out!

I have the Canyon Grizl 7 in aluminium and I’m very happy with it, from longer tours to gravel races it has been flawless.
@TysRides20 күн бұрын
I think the Grizl is such a cool and versatile bike. All these bikes on this list are still probably overpriced, with the exception of that one. When I originally researched for this video, that bike was actually $1600 and then the price went to $1800 overnight.
@CleverSmart12320 күн бұрын
@ yes agree, for gravel racing it could be even lighter (myself too) but else it’s doing its job no matter what I do. Let’s see if the prices correct bit down in the next two years. I don’t see the bike brands sell enough bikes in this economy without lowering the prices.

Gravity Zilla AL Pro from Bikesdirect, $1430. DROPPER SEAT POST!!! 2 inch tires, Ritchey Beacon dirt drop, GRX 2x11, 17 attachment points. I got one and love it. The Trek Checkpoint is on sale for $1699 but it doesn't have the dropper or Beacon bar or the tire clearance of the Zilla.

@georgekrpan3181 holy shit. I didn't know about that bike. I may have to make a video on that bike alone!

@@TysRides I wasn't looking to buy a gravel bike but when the price dropped to $1430 from $1799, I HAD to buy it. The metallic burnt orange gloss paint is beautiful, also available in matte black. The are no junk parts, Shimano center lock hubs, DT Swiss rims, and Maxxis Rambler 120tpi 700x50 tires, tubeless of course.

I'm all budget. My carbon bike is a Framed Basswood carbon, with Apex 1x11. Paid 2k. Put on a set of carbon wheels and it has thousands of miles on it. I decided a year ago to add an aluminum frame gravel bike and Jenson had the Rocky Mountain Solo 30, with the same Apex 1x11 groupset, for $1k. It was originally 1700. I couldn't pass that up. Both mechanical, both 11 speeds and they do everything I want and I don't feel they hold me back at all. Good video!

Hell yea, John! That's what I'm talkin about. I am the same way. I don't need high end. Just need stuff that is tough and holds up. I am a big boy so saving a little weight isn't that important to me.

@@TysRides I am as well. I'm 6'4, 245 lbs. So, to scrimp and pay out the wazoo, to save a few pounds, that just don't compute in my world.

The Merida silex 400 also offers great value for money.

@Dremansworld I need to check it out. Sometimes I'm unclear if ppl in the US can get those bikes.

@TysRides I'm in South Africa. We don't get most of the bikes reviewed in the states. And I anyone brings them across the exchange rate makes then massively expensive.

Important to note that _low end_ carbon frames are not necessarily better than high end alloy or steel. I had an entry level Trek Madone some years ago-the frame was just "okay."

I have a 2019 Norco Search XR Steel with SRAM Apex 11 speed groupset. You can get the new aluminum version Search XR2 on sale now with GRX400 for $1028 on Jenson right now or the Search XR A1 with GRX810 on sale on Norco website for $1784. I’m bias as I love my Norco but Jenson also have some killer deals on Scott Speedster Gravel bikes right now. Scott Speedster 30 Gravel with GRX400 on sale for $1074 in a sharp orange paint color

@jeremyfritz7850 that's really helpful. Both of the comments I've gotten on this video are smoking deals. I will probably make another video just based off the comments I get on this video.

I loved my Felt Breed 30. I would’ve kept it, but I traded it and another bike for a titanium Alchemy Chiron, and I don’t regret that obviously- but I would have kept it if I could have afforded to….

Felt makes a good looking bike but yea, titanium is real nice. One day I would like to get a nice Ti bike.

Its diabolical to pay 2000+ usd nowadays on an aluminium bike in a carbon fiber era...really.. dont do it.

Sorry but any aluminum bike over $1500 better have carbon wheels and electronic shifting. Both the cheap aluminum framed gravel bikes I built have carbon wheels and electronic shifting. Both are under 9kg.

No doubt. When I got into the sport years ago, a brand new aluminum bike with 105 was about $1200. When I originally filmed this video and did research, the Canyon was actually $1600. I thought that was pretty good. Then, when I went to edit the video, the price had gone up to $1800 overnight. Still not a terrible price in today's economy.
