Brava. So many incredibly BORING renditions of this amazing piece. One wonders if they’ve ever seen a cat. Your interpretation is exciting and riveting. I’m learning this now and hope I can do justice to the piece. Thank you for posting this

Dude, this performance is extraordinary and I'm a very demanding listener. You have every right to feel very proud of what you did here.

Ottima interpretazione. Domenico Scarlatti è un compositore meraviglioso, le sue sonate anticiparono i tempi.

This is the first time I've heard this played on the piano. I think a lot of Scarlatti's sonatas work better on the harpsichord, but this is not one of them.

An extraordinarily fine and spry performance of the Cat Fugue. Thank you!

One of the greatest tarantellas and indeed, one of the greatest sonatas, of Scarlatti. Born in 1685, the same year as Bach and Handel. Amazing composer.
Handel's style has an understated quality which makes him unique.

thanks for this, there seems to be no version of this for piano on youtube - years ago there was a recording I loved by Keith Jarrett but it got removed, yours is wonderful too. The gigue is my favourite of any baroque dance suite, incl. all of Bach's - b/c it actually makes me want to dance

Scarlatti always surprises me. That theme is so oddball. Is this the one about the cat that walked on his keyboard?
@Alix777.2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's this one. It's called "Cat fugue".
@johnrickert5572 Жыл бұрын
Well, yes... Beyond surprise, there is amazement as you listen more and more, as I hope you have. And yet beyond that is a depth, humanity, and even mystery that, in my opinion, have never been surpassed. I didn't like Scarlatti at first due to "quirkiness" like this, but he has truly become my favorite composer, with all due respect to Mozart and Bach. Viva felice!

If you took both repeats the piece would be nearly 19 minutes long, which would have to be the longest single movement Mozart, or probably anyone in the 18th century, ever wrote--

I've never noticed before the tune often comes on the second semi quaver. How clever. Smart old Liszt! Nice playing too.
