Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a great practice, actually I do it myself. It's really a shame that it is outshined by an abuser such as Pattabhi Jois.

The physical yoga doesn't provide enlightenment. This is to prepare the body for long periods of meditation and breathwork. It's one of the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga.

very good work out (if there was some proper warm up before), very bad Hatha Yoga class. Yogasana is not an excises. It is a journey. Something that most "teachers" seems to forget or are simply ignorant about. What you see in this video is not Yoga, It is not even a good Hatha Yoga.
@katashley10312 ай бұрын
Sun salutes ARE the warmup, lol. Sounds like yoga isn't really an area you've studied for long. This is also a demonstration of the primary series by his advanced students. Not a class. But in Ashtanga, you do ample sun salutes to warmup. Try a class before criticising it. This "ignorant" teacher is Pattabhi Jois, who devoted his entire life to the Ashtanga path. I assure you, this is authentic yoga, part of the holistic yoga lifestyle he taught, and he knew more about this than you. Learn more, criticise less.

This is ashtanga yoga, lol. Physical yoga is to prepare the body for pranayama and meditation. That's what ashtanga does. You newbies and critics have zero clue what this is or what is means. Seriously.
@madeleinegrayson8372Ай бұрын
Physical yoga is one of the eight limbs of yoga, hence the name ashtanga, meaning eight limbs. You do physical asanas to prepare the body for long meditations. Without weakness or pain, you can go much deeper into the rest of the elements. This is basic common sense.

When Maty and Chuck opened Yogaworks on Montana, I began my morning in Chuck's class, primary series. Hard to believe I actually do all those poses. Was fortunate to do my teacher training with Maty and Lisa Walford. I am celebrating 40 years of teaching yoga this year thanks to the many fantastic teachers I was able to study with. Maty 's aura was so bright that she graduated life early from this incarnation. I am forever grateful to have been one of their 1st generation of students. Nothing nowadays can come close to that level of authenticity. Thank you .

It has saved my body, mind, soul from the inner turmoil I’ve experienced the majority of my life. I am 32, and almost a year of consistent practice has completely transformed me. I hope to study in Mysore one day with R.
