I love this series. The first one that came up for me was the Jazz quartet (#11) a few years ago. I hadn't realized you put together a whole series. Wonderfully creative - and honestly, this is how we learn. Thank you!

nicely done!! really cool way to use ableton for live instrumentation. I just have to mention that you have to commit the grooves to the tracks you apply it to, after selecting it from the drop down menu hit the little arrow above. You will see the change in the piano roll once committed however many times you so choose.
@davidengstrommusic Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you very much! 🙏Well, if I understood your comment correctly I would say no, you actually don't have to commit the groove if you don't want to, unless you want to for example edit the timing further. The grooves is applied in playback anyway without changing them in the clip which means we can swiftly try out different grooves and settings to see what we like. 👍

The way you use Ableton's built-in tools (including Wavetable) is amazing. Very educational video. Thanks a lot. I tried on Max for Live to simulate the "Harmony" mode from the Yamaha DGX-305, but so far the result is not very successful.

I am a new user to Ableton Live 11 and have been viewing as many tutorials as I can to learn how to create music and use the software. I am amazed of how you put together and combined notes, beats and tempos to make it a jazzy sound. Excellent. Well done. Thank You

Hi David, thanks for all these great videos. they are truly inspiring and helpful. My question from this video is that is it possible to extract certain notes from the delay sound (after the feedback) ? for example, if I were to be in a key of c major, is there anyway I can filter the delay sound that is only in c major? thanks once again.
@davidengstrommusic3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks! Well to make the notes fall into a scale you would probably need some sort of autotune effect since it's audio. You could try the max for live device 'Autotuna' from Pitch and Time machine pack, or some other vst that does the trick. Or, if you want to try another way of sort of the same sound you could try my max for live device 'Multi mangler' (maxforlive.com/library/device/4484/the-multi-mangler) which does the same thing (and more..) but as an instrument to which you route the audio from another channel and then change the delay time and other things with midi notes. Best wishes and happy that you find the videos inspiring!

Still here David! Lots of pointers and useful info, much of this still applicable to earlier Live versions Im guessing (Im still using 9). Cheers
@davidengstrommusic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The challenge itself is as useful in Live 9. The effect you will miss the most out of the ones I use is of course spectral resonator. 😊
@gaulpict3 жыл бұрын
@@davidengstrommusic Yeah, I was having a go last night and was bashing around with saturator and resonators, routing that audio to simpler and using midi from there... which, while it didnt get close, it did do its own thing. Of all the step by step videos on YT I find yours the most 'graspable', so its appreciated.
