The probability editor in Live 11 makes it possible for midi notes to not always be played but just sometimes. Why not use this to try to make randomized jazz musicians?
The final result is available for download if you want to. I've also cleaned it up a bit, and added a third chord for the bass. Just follow the link below and enter $0 to get it for free.

Funny how much “jazz” it sounds and how much helpful it is as a tutorial on Ableton’s 11 new features at the same time. Sweet.

nicely done!! really cool way to use ableton for live instrumentation. I just have to mention that you have to commit the grooves to the tracks you apply it to, after selecting it from the drop down menu hit the little arrow above. You will see the change in the piano roll once committed however many times you so choose.
@davidengstrommusic
@davidengstrommusic Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you very much! 🙏Well, if I understood your comment correctly I would say no, you actually don't have to commit the groove if you don't want to, unless you want to for example edit the timing further. The grooves is applied in playback anyway without changing them in the clip which means we can swiftly try out different grooves and settings to see what we like. 👍

Yes, the piano is upright piano released together with Live 11. The drums are from the Drum Booth pack called "64 pad kit jazz". The guitar is from the Big Band Essentials pack and the upright bass is in the core library.

@davidengstrommusic
@davidengstrommusic 3 жыл бұрын
Ok? I use the "64 pad kit jazz" from then drum booth pack, and it's the kick placed on the note D1. It responds to velocity and a kick played softer won't have the same 'click' in the attack if that could be the case.
@teitbonny3829
@teitbonny3829 3 жыл бұрын
with ableton 10 you can do barely the same ?
@davidengstrommusic
@davidengstrommusic 3 жыл бұрын
Well some of it is possible with Live 10, but not exactly everything (without some max for live trickery of course, then anything's possible) Live 10 doesn't have the midi probability and velocity range on which much of this is based.
