This documentary title is misleading. They make it seem like all Trump supporters are some uneducated person that they find in the backwoods. As someone who grew up in western PA coal country and currently live in West Virginia, they make this place seem like we are backward social spectacles that people would love to oogle at. I understand Appalachian culture is a bit different but everyone is fairly normal here. This isn’t 1870, it’s 2025. Also, all of West Virginia has coal mines. Hell, even other states have coal mines, but southern WV is a different place. The culture of WV is different depending on where you go. This documentary only represents one type of person you meet in West Virginia and quite honestly, it is a small part of the state. Snake handlers don’t constitute most churches and really any other church outside of southern WV.
