Sooo I happened to be in DC that day. I think I was technically staying in Alexandria . Was just me n the dog, during my furlough, so I go down to general vicinity of capital to find parking and stroll the area people watch. Prolly sometime during the rally maybe not sure. I had my air pods in listening to podcast or music, and my fingers were numb when not in gloves so I wasn’t paying any attention to socials or texts, I just planned to catch up on everything when back to hotel and fingers thawed. I just knew the mayor called a curfew so I planned to return to car at least by then. Somehow I managed to be like right there, mere blocks & footsteps away from this whole thing. I genuinely had no clue until I got to car at curfew and saw a flood of notifications. How did I not know?? Am I naive, am I numb, oblivious?? I think about it all the time… I do remember being like way over stimulated from what was the loudest ongoing sirens, alarms and rumbles and heavy heavy LEO presence all around from every agency can think of.. my ears were def ringing n I had a really strange effect on my awareness. I just sat on a park bench people watching this Chaos around me, seeing the energy shift into this strange, sketchy atmosphere and no inclination whatsoever of what was going on around the corner from me. I think about this all time. I can’t believe I had no clue what was going on. Like am I just in la la land? Did these people know this was going to rise to that level and I just didn’t get the memo… Did it just spiral fast? I remember seeing a school bus of reservists in a school bus double parked by me. And wondering what they were waiting for… the people I saw among me were like red/white/blue clad, not militant… but there were some sketchy militant people in the mix with a sinister aura.. one of which approached me asking some sketchy questions.. Ive always wondered if he was involved. Have I been eyed for being in that vicinity…. like all these questions and no answers… it’s such a hard experience to describe because it wasn’t what is shown at the capital, yet, it also wasn’t “normal. Good riddance.
