What made you choose med device vs. Pharma? It also isn’t uncommon to get a six figure salary in Pharma as an entry level rep.
@Becoming1percent8 күн бұрын
Oh yeah I see them very common. And, if you have experience, they can have some high base salaries. And I wanted to work with surgeons. I love that aspect and being a part of patient recovery. How about you?

@@Becoming1percentI’m still straggling the fence. I have opportunities with both. However, it’s going to boil down to work life balance for me. I am closer to the age where kids will be coming at anytime. I did have a question for you. When you worked at Medtronic- what were your hours like?

This is solid advice, and it is exactly what has worked for me. I’m in cardiac rhythm management sales (pacemakers) and started in my territory with 0 revenue. Focus on making their practice better, get people to like you over time, know your products back and forth and what patient population they can uniquely benefit. Build relationships/friendships wherever you can and you might get a shot somewhere. I wish I appreciated the time it would take and the patience that is needed to change a doctor’s mind. Definitely started out over the top and pushy with some doctors - didn’t do me any favors.

@@Becoming1percent I’m a mechanic and there is really no room for growth. I make $71000/yr plus per diem which brings it to around $84k. Besides a cost of living raise around $1, I’m pretty much making what I can make. I am 12 years in and it would take another 20 years to break $100k salary. I just want more earning potential before I’m old enough to retire.

I would say the threat of failure each and every day when you’re new. The longer you stay in it, the more accustomed you become to that. And I love trying to schedule office meetings or office manager meetings first to introduce myself.

Hey Matt, great video as always. I've been going through rounds of interviews with different companies, however with Medtronic no matter how much connecting/networking with reps, HM's and TM's, even if I meet all the qualifications for an associate role I cannot seem to even get a screening. Medtronic is one of my top preferred companies to work for, as I've always been fascinated with how their technology continuously progresses and their strength in the industry. Any advice? Thank you!
@Becoming1percent2 ай бұрын
If I had to give you any solid advice, it would be start with a smaller company first. Unless you have a friend or an in, it is hard to break in to that specific company without experience under your belt. I would get in with a smaller company, do an amazing job, and then if the oppertunity arrises, you will absolutely get the job.

Hi Matt, Im currently doing bedside but have an interest in stepping into sales sides of the industry. I have zero sales experience, but absolutely willing to put in the effort to learn. Do you need prior sales experience to jump into sales? Do companies generally provide training for this type of role?
@Becoming1percent2 ай бұрын
Companies always provide training :) But usually it is not as glamorous as having years of experience under your belt. People break in all the time with no experience. But, it takes a lot of work and dedication and never giving up 😊
