Been a minute since I’ve commented on one of your videos, but I figured I’d share my thoughts as well. I was looking forward to this album, but everything going on with the band did hamper my excitement a bit. Given what the other four members have said (in addition to others, like the Austrian Death Machine drummer who just quit), it seems that something pretty severe happened with Tim, which just sucks to see. Still checked out the album, but given all the stuff going on with the band, I’m not sure that I’ll be comfortable supporting their new stuff going forward. I was willing to give a second chance when the classic lineup came back, but now that both they and the entire new lineup have also left for reasons that appear to be related to mental health, safety, and moral disagreements, I’m pretty skeptical of Tim’s recovery at this point Anyways, I thought the album was decent but underwhelming. It’s standard AILD so as a fan it works, but I didn’t think there was a lot that really stood out as especially memorable. Burden, Whitewashed Tomb, and The Void Within were pretty good representations of the band’s usual sound, I think. We Are the Dead isn’t a personal favorite, but it is probably one of their heaviest songs to date which was cool; I think Tom’s guest vocals fit well, but I’m not so sure about Alex even though I prefer him as a vocalist over Tom. The Cave We Fear to Enter is the one massive highlight for me, as it feels like a true breath of fresh air for the band while staying true to their sound. It may be my favorite song they’ve put out since the reunion Overall I’d say it’s definitely weaker than Shaped by Fire, and possibly even any of their work since Shadows are Security at least. Some real standouts like I mentioned, but it doesn’t feel like it’ll have the lasting impact of their older work or even Shaped by Fire, all of which I still return to often. It’s a solid album but not to the level I expect from AILD
@mjnation78766 күн бұрын
@@Revan-sk4qx cool to see you again man. It is a step down from Shaped By Fire. Not their worst I’d say but probably in the bottom half of their discography when ranking their albums. Still a solid album.

I was actually really excited for this album, because Burden was a great single and it was followed up by The cave we fear to enter and Whitewashed tomb which are some of my all time favourite AILD songs. However the rest doesn't add much. We are the dead was ok for a single, but...kinda feels like miss opportunity and The void within is really eh. As for the rest of the album, the intro was AMAZING! EASILY their best album opener they've ever done! The rest of the deeper cuts are kinda weak tho. A bit of a disappointing album imo, but still good. Also the new cleans get a little TOO corny at times!

I enjoyed your review. For me I feel like this album is primarily a mixture of The Hunting Party and One more Light but masterfully done, with heavy influences from their entire discography sprinkled in. This is surprisingly mediocre. There is nothing that As I Lay Dying hasn't done before on this album, and even if the original members were still on it they wouldn't even bring anything all that special to it. It's not bad by any means, but kinda telling that this band is out of ideas and needs to retire considering the drama that they've gotten themselves into. This is easily their weakest album.
@dhaviationfanatic997 күн бұрын
Yeah, I was expecting a little more from it to be honest. The first five singles were great, but won the rest of the album draft today. I gave it a few listens and for some reason I just can’t get into it, and it doesn’t even sound like as I lay dying anymore. It felt like I was listening to a completely different band.
@mjnation78767 күн бұрын
Fair. There are maybe two or three songs that I would say are somewhat mediocre but I think there are some pretty good songs on here like The Cave We Fear To Enter, Whitewashed Tomb, A Broken Reflection, and some others. The album is pretty much more of the same but I still think it’s a solid album. The debut album, Beneath The Encasing Of Ashes, I still think is their weakest but when it comes to ranking their albums, I’ll admit, it’s somewhere in the bottom half for me most likely.
