I still remember the first time I ever saw this show and heard this overture. I was 12, and it scared the ABSOLUTE SHIT out of me. I was in complete and utter awe. We were in a balcony seat near the chandelier which was hanging over the audience. I would pay any amount of money to get that seat again some day.

I was about 11ish when this came out while I was in a DODDS school in Germany. And I STILL know the entire soundtrack by heart. I'm currently 47. This AND Elaine Paige singing "Memories" in CATS makes me sad I don't have a voice capable of singing. EDIT: I CAN sing. I can hear perfect pitch. For all that it does to and for me. I'm an amazing backup. I know how to modulate my tone and voice, so I never overpower the main singer. I loved duets and trios in high school. But my voice goes towards flats and minors unless I've practiced the song repeatedly. It was hard to accept and learn on my own. I would/will never be solo ...material? Potential? So be it. But sometimes I ache over the fact that my voice will never be enough for the songs I wish I could and want to sing. Lip syncing is the best it's going to get lol!

This reminds me of John Owen-Jones and Katie Hall... They should have been the 25th anniversary leads, John & Katie were the closest pair to match Erik and Christine in Leroux's novel. Scumbag cameron mackintosh
