The Bomb was disguised as a football, not the other way around. Regardless, Charlie Brown was a cultural phenomenon because it was written so intelligently using the interesting characters that Charles created. It started losing its edge and growing weak at the end of its run, about the time he introduced that character nobody ever seems to recall: Rerun, Linus & Lucy's baby brother. Rerun was an apt name, it was on par with the penchant to throw in a kid when a sitcom starts to get stale. By the late 70's, it was a pale imitation of what it had been. But to be fair, by that point Schulz had been writing and drawing Peanuts for 30 years. If you come across one of the old Peanuts Treasury hardcover books, you can see why it was so very popular. Now it's fair to say you (almost) had to be there to understand the simple but excellent pleasure Peanuts used to be, with its wit and warmth.

Fun fact, the woman kicking the guy was the title character from another comic strip: Blondie. Also the guy was her husband from that same comic.

I'm so sorry I didn't see the dark Charlie Brown video before. I have a sequel. A middle aged Charlie working on a computer to kill his younger self. He's a janitor who snuck into a time research lab. Using his knowledge of the past/future he opened an account, made great stock choices, gathered up a million dollars. And contracted his teen friends to kill him so he wouldn't have to live his worthless life. He watches, cursing, as his friends fail to kill him. And is taken to an insane asylum that declares him sane after 4 years of 'treatment'. Charlie becomes a soldier & aggressive business man after release. Suddenly Charlie is wisks away from the computer terminal & is holding a drink, lying on a pool lounge chair, reading a New York times article about his success. Turning to his young blonde wife, he says: Alls swell that ends swell? Or, I'll be back? what do you expect: I'm German? Or what do you expect, I'm Moslem? Or, what do you expect, I'm Christian? Or, what did you expect, I'm Russian? Or, what did you expect, I'm Jewish? Or, what did you expect, I'm English? Or what did you expect, I'm French? Or, what did you expect, I'm xxxxxx? (insert you prejudice into xxxxxx), taking drink & making a frown: 'You know I'm not very good at ending things, so let's keep it: I'll be back'. The view pans backwards during Charlie's monologue revealing the head of Lucy on a plaque being viewed by staff. Then continues to pan back revealing several other plaques of Charlie's childhood friends. Off to the side of Lucy's plaque, a janitor remarks to a made: I don't know, it looks real to me.

And I remember that fear returning when I looked up scary logos before bed back when I was in high school, assuming that I’ve outgrown my fear of scary logos. The result is this speculative piece about a film that doesn't exist further positing the possible, not likely, existence of an apocryphal film. Next up: Someone uses AI to create the nonexistent media. ;-)
