As the old saying goes, “just because you can do something it doesn’t automatically make it a good idea”. Having said that though, I have to hand it to Prism for figuring out how to make it work.

So if I have a vented cap, do I still need to add in a ventilation line into my tank?
@lowbrowcustoms2 күн бұрын
Yes, even if your oil tank has a vented cap, you still need a dedicated ventilation line installed as a safety measure; a vented cap alone might not be sufficient to properly manage pressure and vacuum fluctuations within the tank, especially during large temperature changes

We have a few install videos from Matt of the different year ranges he makes. He now goes by Gremlin Wiring. You can find his stuff on our site here: www.lowbrowcustoms.com/collections/gremlin-wiring

@ thanks for the reply. I went through his kits and noticed it doesn’t go past 2004. Are there any available kits slightly later models? (2009 sportster)
@lowbrowcustoms14 күн бұрын
@@scoophouser Not at this time. We are in the works of releasing a full EFI harness. The harness we are making will be designed for The Gasbox full frames so the lengths might not be right for stock applications. Sorry not the answer you are looking for but not much available at this time for that year range, with all the computer stuff on those, makes it a little more difficult.

@ I figured the modern electronics were the limiting factor in this case. That makes sense. Thank you for clarifying! You guys make great stuff.

Question: I noticed at 24:02 Todd didn't put sealant down around that first hole (down at the bottom right side near the crank case drain plug.) There's two holes there. The bottom one is for the engine mounting bolt, but the hole above that I've been told is an oil passageway between case halves? Is that true? Seems a weird placement for that, but if so, wouldn't you get a leak there if you left it dry? Maybe Todd put some yamabond there but it wasn't captured on camera. Or maybe there's no oil traveling through that hole. I have a T140 that's currently leaking oil from that spot (and a little bit out of the engine mounting bolt hole.) I may take it apart and reseal the case halves, depending how bad the leak gets.

Moving the axle forward from being inline with the original leg will reduce the trail making the bike far less stable at speed, that kit is potentially dangerous.

I know brazing has it's place but I can't stand it either. I TIG almost everything as well, especially sheet metal. The tacks are softer than MIG and there's less post weld pull. But the main thing I can't stand when repairs are done with brass is then you can never electric weld that area at all again unless you cut all that brass right back out!

for removal of 6 screws of the cover plate in front of chain sprocket l used an impact wrench gun with a perfect slotted bit. the bit exact width of the screw sides. perfect instant removal of the screws 6x..with me having hand tremors there was no way of holding the chisel steady while hitting it precisely with the hammer and having a greater possibility of damaging the slotted edges of the screws.

This is extremely timely. I put a springer and disc brake on a big twin last year, but there were issues with the spacers and the install (instructions were terrible and there's not much online). Guess there was a small amount of play in the caliper because the first time I tested it it locked the front brake and caused me to dump the bike. Interested to see how this install goes and if there's any tricks or what I missed.

Simple months ago I bought a 1970 almost stock shovelhead while the paint is not original. And it has those type of socket bolts that hold on the front and rear brakes. I'm pretty sure it didn't have the star hub so the star hub must have been prior to 1970 mine did have an older style hub though.
