So many comments I’m reading seem to think there has to be an either-or, like you are either a minimalist or a maximalist and there’s nothing in between. I don’t believe that is the case at all.

Never heard of this style until now but can see it’s definitely not for me! I can’t stand lots of clutter, it totally drains me off all energy. Same with lots of heavy dark colors. I like vintage and mid century modern with just a few pops of bold color here and there against mostly neutrals.

So informative and well articulated. One thing I’ve learnt is to hint to my house visitors who are into minimalism that I’m a maximalist (maybe 50/50… not extreme). This avoids negative remarks about my home decor that are out of line … esp when they’re in your home.

Glad to come across this video as this is exactly my take- having a maximalist style (boho specifically) while still living with the minimalist mindset. Thanks for sharing- now I know it's an actual thing! Perfect video!

Interestingly 99% of the kitchen Islands shown (after 6:17) feature beautiful pendant lights in a variety of styles - not going anywhere. The light they provide is needed for food prep, if sink is in the island, and if place on a dimer you can create different moods. Not going anywhere.

maybe still eclectic, but my "space" is filled with mixed "stuff" you probably find in someone's attic, like a loft without the loft if that makes sense, not to big appartement, so the walls and even the ceiling is used ( buckets and tools like hammers, broom and a saw ) suspended from the ceiling, posters / traffic-signs and paintings on the floor leaning against the wall.. lots of plants & carpets... ( eh.. maybe indeed a horders paradise 😃 )

It intrigues me. If you look at some ai videos it is very elegant. Also can be very expensive if you want the true shock look of this theme. Just the brass and copper custom railing glass is well beyond normal decorating taste more like an ironn workers talent of design. The bars are facinating, bathrooms etc. Many people are on budgets as I see but in some steampunk gathering videos there are a few true fantasy steam punk vehicles professional level. I bought a few wall clocks from amazon with exposed gears and even airplane propellers on the clock. Ive decorated with marble for years before for elegant looks but this is truly a thinkers approach. I like it.

Thank you for your review of the Steampunk style. Your overview was informative and enthusiastic, which I really appreciate. The more I examine this style, the more I think it lends itself to a commercial application like a restaurant, bar or tavern the most. That's not to say that it can't be done well in a residence, but it would require years of collecting and/or a ton of money to fill a home. Just a thought. Thanks again for your video.

Thanks for the thorough review. My kids saw these and we are looking into trying one of these - even if it's just for the novelty factor of staying in something dome shaped

I'm renovating my home in Orkcore home design. The look is dominated by red, grey, and brown. Brown leather and natural brown wood. Grey concrete, grey iron, occasionally grey stained wood(I've found that Aged Barrel Mw283 is the best shade of wood stain for this). Red leather, sedona red stained wood, a bit of red trim, red painted roof. Dark ages war/hunting weapons as decorations. Hide rugs. Raw materials and recycled materials. Exposed industrial elements such as large bolts where practical. Pointiness added everywhere it can be done safely, such as pyramid tacks & pointy plants.

I chose the industrial for the color scheme but prefer traditional architecture. So traditional architecture with more black, greys, and browns.

In college back in the late 60's I read an article by the Buckminster Fuller Institute on the math involved with building a dome building. I think it was at the Worlds Fair in Montreal, Canada. I drew up plans for a 36 foot diameter home with a half upper deck. Got drafted and my world changed. I've seen a couple that had "Shotcrete" (sprayed concrete) with four foot tall, cinder block base walls, then covered with soil and grass ... they were amazing.

Maximalism is the greatest argument against minimalism. Especially in luxury. If you spends millions of dollars on a home or vehicle, might as well go all out instead of letting construction companies price gouge you to death and rip you off.
