Color of furnishings, upholstery, rugs, dark corners, affect paint color

When picking furnishings, avoid sameness - everything has same height, leg style, arm style, nailheads, tufts, etc

I consider what am I leaving for the next homeowners to deal with. Instead of wall paper I stencil. Instead of heavy wood, tiles, stone. I use laminate and MDF materials that can be painted.
