Sultanah Fatimah was cousin to Wong Ah Fook, the famous kapitan-businessman-contractor who was very close to His Highness. Married for short period only, but has lasting effect to the court. Sultanah Khadijah was a Turkish lady gifted to him by Sultan Abdul Hamid during his diplomatic visit to Turkey. Another Turkish lady who accompanied her to Johore (her sister, if not mistaken), Rugayyah, was married to Dato Jaafar, Chief Minister of Johore. While Khadijah did not have children with the Sultan, she help Rugayyah raised her big family with Dato Jaafar, later Ungku A Hamid (Sultan's cousin) and lastly to Syed ? Al-Attas. Ruqayyah married 3-times to 3 prominent man during that era. Her decendents included Syed Hussin Allatas, Syed Naquib Allatas, Dato Ungku Abdul Hamid (former Chief Minister), his son Prof Ungku Aziz (inc Zetty Akhtar Aziz), Dato Onn Jaafar (inc Tun Hussein Onn, Dato Hishamuddin Hussein, current Johore Chief Minister, Dato Onn Ghazi) etc.

When he take crown from Sultan Ali?
@lizamohd7151Ай бұрын
Sultan Ali was 'crowned' by the British on paper only, the Riau Court never accepted it as the Malay Riau Sultan was still very much alive and in throne. It is only when the Empire officially ceased to exist (1824), Singapore became British protectorate, Johor remains under Temenggung control while the rest of Riau-Lingga became under the Dutch control. Naturally, it is 'accepted' for the Temenggung to continue governing Johor and her immediate territtories as his rights to governing was seen as the continuation of the previous administration (the Sultanate). Remember, Temenggung Abu Bakar never used the title Sultan during 30-40 period of his time in Johor until the last years of life, after he gained enough recognition from foreign nations as the the esteemed leader of an independent Johor. It was the blessing and recognition by the Caliph, Sultan Abdul Hamid, that entitled him to declare himself as Sultan of Johor, not by Queen Victoria.

Hello! I have dropped a comment on your post on “lost cinemas in Singapore” video. Could I ask some questions about Dalit theatre for a project that I am working on? Or would you also have any pictures or videos of the place as well? Would love to learn more about the place. Thank you so much!

As a Taphophile myself, this is my 3rd time watching this, don't know why i still havent liked it😂. Bos really appreciate ur work. Anyways hearing that the former St John's Cemetery is being cleared for housing works breaks my heart. One of the few cemeteries i have yet to visit. The stories never told. The history of those departed never learnt. Why can't we just leave the dead in peace.

With regards to this, im am no one to ask but i feel some would appreciate it if u'd make a vid of all the remainng cemetries in singapore that we could one way or another visit. Perhaps with their directions so its easier too for visiting. Thanks and salam!
