Taif is known for being the city where Prophet Muhammad sought refuge and spread Islam during a time of hardship. He went there to seek support for his message after facing opposition in Mecca. Despite facing rejection, it marks a pivotal event in his life and the spread of Islam.
During his visit to Taif, Prophet Muhammad faced significant opposition and hostility from the locals. He was rejected and faced severe hardship, including being stoned by the people of Taif. This event is seen as a testament to the Prophet's perseverance and endurance in spreading the message of Islam despite adversity.
Addas was a Christian slave or servant who encountered Prophet Muhammad during his visit to Taif and being chased away. When Muhammad and his adopted son Zayd sought refuge in a vineyard outside Taif after facing rejection, it's said that Addas, the servant of the vineyard owner, brought some grapes to them.
Upon receiving the grapes, Muhammad began by saying, "In the name of Allah," before eating, which surprised Addas. This prompted a conversation between them, during which Addas learned about Muhammad's mission and teachings. Impressed by Muhammad's demeanor and message, Addas became sympathetic towards him.
Although the people of Taif initially rejected Prophet Muhammad's message, Islam eventually spread in the region. Today, Taif is home to several mosques and is considered a sacred place where Muslims visit to pray and seek blessings.
