Brother I watched your full video I got an idea. Almost. But it's super confusing. Like where should we cut. I was just doing projection and unfold and my teacher told me that you need to cut things everytime. But where should I cut
@ScratchMade7 ай бұрын
Yes it is confusing when new. I wouldn't cut 'every time', you don't want too many seams. I always tell my students that unwrapping is a puzzle with no one right way, and it's different every single time. There is no one right approach, you need to try one possible solution, and when it doesn't quite work, try a different solution. Where should you cut? You need to try a possible solution, unfold, and either add more cuts or sew seams and unfold again, repeat until it works well enough. Over time this problem solving will become much more easy, but when starting, just try to create a UV island and if it doesn't work well, no biggie, try a different solution. You'll get there, and it will get easier the more you do it.

Thank you sir. I thought that you r. Learning or working alone. But you r a teacher😂😂. The main thing is. Cleanup. Sometimes it shows correctly. Then suddenly shows wrong. And. Frustrating. Then in unwrap. I don't know how to. Make a whole thing seprate like if a balcony. The. The floor is separate then the. Upper side then supporting railing. @@ScratchMade

I like your explanation all the maps, but i would add some extra info i've learned: The darker tones in a occlusion map are the places where light have more difficulty access/escape from, like stuck bouncing when hitting from wider angles. The colors in the normal map permits the color map to recieve light direction info and be able to create highlights instead of shadows when light sources hit the textured face from diferent angles as if it has more geometry to work from(pseudo normal face vectors), something that the neither the height map nor the bump can reproduce. Specular maps and metallic map differ one from the other by the way they tint the light bouces and how blured the final material will look. Specular maps at high intensity tend to make the texture (and its reflection) look plasticky, blown out white and tinted the original color of the color map and non reflective, while the metallic map tends to make the material look very reflective (very clean chrome effect) , non blured and tinted with the average color of the original color map.

My god this is way complicated from building in Second life using PS for textures or what you call a map.. We do a layer for shading, a layer for highlights, and we blend it right on the actual texture.. What you are doing here is just crazy complicated ha ha

great vid . you know unity has a substance plugin. where you can add textures from substanceshare it's free share textures and materials. plus using umodeler for making it all in house with unity.
@ScratchMade3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, it's a pretty nice feature. For this tutorial I want my students to be able to custom build their own materials in Substance rather than just applying existing smart materials, plus learn the power of Maya of course. But I can definitely see the advantage to doing everything within Unity. The workflow just isn't as powerful as I'd like.

22:45 to know the size of your image in Photoshop go to image then canvas size, or image then image size. Keep in mind that you are looking for a pixel size of the image. 27:35 actually, sides, top and bottom, have to match which is why when you are doing the off-set you have to edit both values.
