This is one of the best Zbrush tutorials I've ever seen. Easy to understand, stays on point and is exactly the technique I was looking for.

Thanks so much. Zbrush is the most horrible ui I have ever faced. Your tips are very helpful

You're welcome. It's really just a taster of the sort of content that you get on Shane's course, I highly recommend it when you can afford it :)

Great tutorial, answered many questions I had for a long time. Thanks for keeping it basically ZBrushCore friendly too... I doubt I'll ever be able to afford big ZBrush and all I want to do is make stylized characters for printing anyway.

Jonathan - I was thinking about picking up ZBrushCore for figure making and hopefully printing. I'm playing around with Zbrush 2018 demo but I was wondering if ZBCore would be enough. How is it going so far and what are your thoughts?
@JonathanPriceArt6 жыл бұрын
Pesto I like Core but my main problem is most tutorials use main ZBrush and, while it's possible to work around the limitations, it means spending a lot more time teaching myself how to do things rather than getting real instruction. I made a few minor models but I wish I had the main program.

Have you checked out Michael Pavlovich's free course on Gumroad? It's really good. gumroad.com/pavlovich

I knew about his intro to Core vids on KZbin but not his Gumroad store. Thanks for that.

Give credit to Shane Olson not only for the brush, but also for the interface and the workflow would be nice

Absolutely! I've updated the description. I wasn't trying to hide that fact, I did mention Shane when I used his brush, but you're right, I should have been clearer and more promoty. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnnJfYKmbZyLjac

while this blocking method might be good. it is not to start with such high poly shapes. some pc will crash very easily
@ScratchMade6 жыл бұрын
Zbrush can handle millions of points quite comfortably. This method lets you rapidly sculpt detail without worrying about resolution, then you retopologise to get something that can render without killing any computers.
@toastedprinny6 жыл бұрын
Although you are right in some ways, it really depends on the computer but if a person can't handle high poly shapes in the beginning then once they get into the work flow and need more geometry to sculpt on they will likely crash anyway if their pc can't handle it. I think the transition from 3dsmax and maya to zbrush left me super paranoid about high poly crashes and sculptris definitely made me worry about zbrush even more, but zbrush is surprisingly stable.

Its veeeery hard to learn zbrush. Unless you just have talent. Its completely different than maya or whatever, well even in maya its super hard to scultp organic stuff... Looks simple, isnt at all.
@toastedprinny6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, now that i've gotten more accustomed to ZBrush and the workflow i'm starting to learn more as i go so i'm revisiting beginner tutorials again so i never forget how much of a pain it is in the beginning. I always ran into people who never gave advice just said "zbrush is easy" because they've forgotten what it was like to be new.
