Technics at its finest... look at those reel to reel machines, the RS-M95 cassette deck, the RS-M280... they were practically pumping one top product after another... much like Sony later in the years during the late 80s and early 90s. I've got one RS-M202 like the one in the thumbnail picture... only mine still has the original stickers on the cassette doors. The conditions aren't as good unfortunately.
@OLDBUTGOODАй бұрын
Very good quality materials: stainless steel, chrome, hard aluminum, electronic volume meter with LED light of bright colors and the finished product was Top!! well ahead of other brands, plus there was a market for pre-recorded microcassettes with soloists exclusive to Japan, and you could listen to your favorite music in microcassette format on National GZ-7 mini recorders that were 10 times more compact than the classic Walkman and some micro tapes had a duration of 90 minutes. Tobias believe me that if you saw the Technics catalogs from 1980 you would be speechless, they are more advanced than that... they simply launched professional technology at very affordable prices RS-M212 price approx. 500 euros (69,800 yen) had early dbx, then only that these jewels are only for their representatives in Japan and are on 100V supply. Even now some Decks cannot be imported from JPN as they are banned for European and rest of the world buyers. When I have time I will do an extended close-up video of each product because it doesn't look good like this.
@m80116Ай бұрын
@@OLDBUTGOOD the trouble with these vintage machines is not buying them. Many can be purchased but the prices have skyrocketed in the last couple of years to unreasonable price and beyond.
@OLDBUTGOODАй бұрын
@@m80116 That's why I'm campaigning for an association of vintage collectors in Europe/USA/Asia where you can barter or exchange because those in Japan and South Korea also want to have pieces from us in their collections, either Audio-Video from we, and they pay. considerable sums for the models here from us (which we sell here at low prices) but because of exports, high VAT taxes are paid.. the last case is Great Britain, which left the European community following Brexit.

All products with the old logo are very good and valuable today, for example the used aiwa HP-D9 headphones sold 2 weeks ago for 700 euros and I didn't have access then because they were expensive in '94/'95 and I could only afford headphones at the bottom of the AIWA-Pipe rankings.

I did not realise that '1 bit Dacs' had been around for 30 years but looking through this video they are on everything including portables. Yet this was still probably an era before a CD could be read bit perfect at a speed required for real-time playback so much of the advantage of Pulse Density decoding would have been lost anyway.
@OLDBUTGOODАй бұрын
And with all that, the CD format still exists today where it can be read at 24 bits/48 KHz or professionally in SACD format Basically, what does the number of bits boil down to? At a certain maximum theoretical dynamic range that it allows; calculated approximately with 6* no. of bits: - at 1-bit, we have only 2 possible levels for volume, a dynamic range of 6dB - at 8-bit, we have 256 possible volume levels, a dynamic range of 48dB - at 16 bits, we have 65536 levels, a dynamic range of 96dB - at 24 bits, we have 16.7 million levels, a dynamic range of 144dB
