Do they work with that much water in the bucket? I’m very interested in building one but really unsure about different locations of the drain. Others show water feed over the net cup/roots with a low drain about 2” above the bottom of the bucket. Do you have any pros or con to both setups?

Your potted cilantro has spider mites and you are allowing it to spread by keeping it next to pots without treatment.

I have a black genoa in soil that never really grew well. I took a couple of cuttings and rooted them hydroponically, then put one in a flood and drain system with scoria media outside. Natural daylight, a 40 litre growing media tub, and underneath a 100-litre reservoir that gets pumped up and drained every 15 minutes. It exploded in growth from the small cutting. Was about 30cm tall at the start of the season (last year this was) and ended up at least 2 meters tall. I didn't get any fruit, it was the first year for that cutting, but we are a few months away from Spring in Australia and the days are already getting longer. I cut it back some, and it is putting out new leaves already. I think with an established root base and a years growth behind it, it should get huge. I might put up a video on it because i am expecting big things. And i put almost no effort into mixing the nutrients and PH balancing it, and there is no better light source than the sun. The only issue i have is getting enough light on the plant from surrounding trees throwing shade

im 60 years old. ive owned a few. heres my take. 1) gets stupid hot after a few hits and stays that way for a long time. if you fry a bowl youre not going to be able to hold onto it for a long time or put it back in your pocket. glass is way better. 2) you can definitely taste the brass. cant be good. flavor issues for sure. cant be healthy. 3) must clean regularly or youll regret it. i mean like after every bowl or two. the little plug at the bottom of the bowl gets welded in by resin and you cant knock it out easily. needs to be soaked in alcohol regularly. the poker is as crude as the tiny holes in the bowl. youll see. pain in the rear. 4) the chamber made for storing weed isnt air tight. in short... everyones going to smell your stash when you walk into a room. only large enough for the tiniest nugs or ground weed. ( and your weed will dry out pretty quickly. ) 5) stem is only press fit in. yes... they get loose and fall out if they get hard use in your pocket. if you have a vise or an arbor press its no big deal 6) very heavy for its size. you can always feel it in your pocket. its weight makes it pull your pocket ..... and therefore easy to recognize. ( not a stealthy piece) imho..... this is not a piece designed for heavy usage or parties. its material really limits it in many respects. if you made it out of glass it would be better.... but still crudely engineered. it gets gummed up with resin too easily. if you fry an entire bowl you wont be able to hang onto it. no way youre going to fry two bowls between two people without gloves. also, its short stem provides hot smoke. not a fan of that either. To be honest this is good only for nostalgia purposes. and then theres the hipster factor.... ( look how cool i am.....) beyond that it will be setting in a drawer until your company comes over. yeah, it works. but id much rather smoke out of glass. just not something thats even that fun to use. its got too many issues. theres one in one of my tool boxes in the garage. thats where its been for years. truthfully... if you want simplicity, flavor, price, usability and practicality id stick with glass or roll a joint. way more pleasant. its old tech that was half baked at best. back then we had wood pipes mostly. this got popular because it was the only " gee whiz" piece of cannabis tech that was available. it made you "cool". it was about 'elevating your image' as a stoner. lol. it was never about the quality of the smoke. true. just my two cents. The older i get the more i enjoy my "Volcano" vaporizer. the "classic' is still the king of the octagon. cheers.

You can set reservoir on a 2in pad of foam insulation. The foam back carpet insulates as well. 65 degrees is perfect temp for oxygen retention

Just be careful growing root stuff in Hydroponics from what I heard it can uptake lots of salts and cause problems for you eating them but that's in true Hydroponics this is more of a hybrid system

The method I originally saw on YT many years ago was called the *Larry Halls Gutter Grow System* in his original system you used any grow container with soil but pre prepared with 3" net cup sticking out the bottom that went into a gutter with a 2x4 stable frame and a float valve water supply. He later updated his systems with many renditions and options. Many thousands of variations are now on YT, but sadly I had read Larry has passed on recently
