I tried growing some sauce tomatoes in the hydroponic basil wall and it went great for several months until the root systems blocked up the pipes

how do you deal with mosquito on open bucket like that?
@BobGrows3 жыл бұрын
If the water is moving not much of an issue with mosquitoes. It’s just the random buckets sitting there that are the issue. I tilt them and let the rain water out. I should just flip them over but I’m lazy

@@BobGrows ah, the key is moving water then. thanks bro!

I'm just commenting on this video to give some more engagement, but my question is about your RDWC setup. Why did you choose to drill through the Firehouse logo and then use an additional elbow and tube rather than just putting the outlet hole at the right height for your drain? would you do it the same way if you did it again?
@BobGrows3 жыл бұрын
I used riser tube because I wanted the option to put the drain lower at another time. Also it was an easy reference so I wouldn’t have to measure. At this point I have my drains very low towards the bottom So the roots mostly dangle in the air with in the bucket

@@BobGrows Interesting! Why'd you lower the riser? Would you put the hole at the same level if you were to do it again? I'm about to start my own setup. Thanks again!

@@RandieselDad I would put it even lower. With the roots being exposed to oxygen in open air I believe the system functions similar to aeroponics. If the water volume was all the way up to the bottom of the net cup, the roots would be submerged and not have great access to oxygen. You would need air stones to oxygenate the water and it might not even be as effective
