Great video review. Been looking at several options...Traeger, Pit Boss and Z Grill. I have the Camp Chef firepit and the Pro 6X stove which I think is great. Question... in your review you didn't discuss if the model you have is WIFI enabled as listed on their website. If yours has this feature how do you rate the app and its functionality? Thanks

In the market for my first pellet grill. Have a couple of family members that both own Traegers but I was looking into something different. Like the features and large pellet box that the SG has to offer. Great simple video and breakdown. Thanks for posting!

Great vid, thanks! For those that swear by Ugly Sticks, there is the Ice Runner 36" Medium [ USIR361M ] that has a smooth parabolic action that seems to work well with my JJ. I also use Convergence sticks, St. Croix, Elliot...all have their uses depending on the target species. But I typically will be caught with the Ugly Stick Ice Runner in the JJ.

Hey there I have been using a strike master 8 inch hand auger I picked up cheap and switched from a more basic drill to flight adapter to the clam plate and love it. I heard you say your drill must be brushless, I'd like to know the reason behind this if you don't mind. I drill mine with an older bosch brushes 18v drill with 750 in lbs and does it flawlessly with an 8 ah battery, 4ah can do it if your only drilling 18 inch or you burn through the batteries really fast. Great vid and demo also!!

Do you prefer the white braid line?
@the-mountainlife
@the-mountainlife Жыл бұрын
Actually my preference would be something in light or dark green as this seems to match the water color a little better. The braid in this video isn’t my preferred color, but it’s what I had.

Without a line counter reel how will u know when the river has reached is depth
@the-mountainlife
@the-mountainlife 2 жыл бұрын
Line counter reels are a great tool for that exact reason. The poor man’s way is to count how many pulls or arm lengths you let out each time. You really can’t say much about depth measured in feet this way, but you can be consistent.

Does the diver still release and work properly with the snubber on? I watched a video with another guy saying to use braid because it keeps the line tight with minimal give, which he claimed you want when using a diver so that is works properly when the fish strikes. Thoughts?
@the-mountainlife
@the-mountainlife 2 жыл бұрын
You bring up a good point brother. I could definitely see the braid being beneficial in that instance. What I have done is fish a monofilament with no snubber, seems to give just a bit of stretch but I can still trip the diver. I also use a limber rod too (lamiglass tournament kokanee). This rod is limber enough to provide a gentle play on the fish but has enough backbone to trip a diver too. I wouldn’t use my Okuma SST kokanee rod with a diver because it’s too light. Just my two cents….
@crashbash5554
@crashbash5554 Жыл бұрын
Yes using braid is preferred. It has minimal stretch compared to monofilament,(cuts the water better too!) therefore allows you to use a lighter action rod while still being able to trip the divers. Braid = snubber, mono= no snubber. Monofilament has plenty of stretch to accommodate a hard hitting fish. This is in my experience I can't speak for everone.

@@ammogiant824 Gotcha. That offers a bit more insight. Camp chef is based out of Utah which is dry and arid, so a lot different than where you live. Maybe they need to do a bit more product testing in varying climates…but living in Idaho mine has held up well. Good luck and sorry it’s been a bit of a bummer for you.

I've got a baby at the bottom of our front steps right now! Just precious. Mom isn't far away and we threw a flake of alfalfa for her. Last time it took several hours for the mom to come and get it. If you find one, don't pet it and just leave it alone and know the mom will come sooner or later.
