As a person who mostly played D&D before 2013 and after 2020, and could never get into Critical Role, its presence in the game is utterly baffling to me. Even in this video, Critical Role is positioned as a representative of what "professional" D&D looks like, as though it is the shape of the game at its highest level, rather than just A permutation of what D&D can be, with many alternatives.

Personally I think at early levels every player should have a potion on their belt, think like a tourniquet potion. Someone going down, maybe the healer, has a potion to use on them in easy reach. Your don’t use yours, that’s for you if you go down.

Disagree about Reverse Gravity vs flying. Flying works in gravity going one direction--no reason it wouldn't work with gravity in a different direction.

I watched this video 3 time. The amount of nonsense in the video means only one thing. You got paid in some way. I don't even play pathfinder. But your reasons tell you are just a starting player or you are making things up. Nothing you said makes any sense.

Only just picked this up, It's AWESOME DUDE!. You could get some cheap clear PVC roll 'cut it too size' voila; scratch resistant, only 8:25 in lol before making comment, but ,yeah, that would protect your screen dude! Just go for something thin. as screens do give off heat. You don't want your TV overheating and/or screen failing.

I know the Canon has that the Shadowfell is a relatively new plane and I feel like the feywild being its counterpart should be equally new. And it should be drawing power from the positive energy plane. My personal belief is that the shadow fell in the feywild are depressed and manic versions of the material plane. The farewell doesn't have more life it has more liveliness. The Shadowfell is more drudgery. I also think that fake creatures should be created from strong vibes. Like there are beings that are created from that feeling of wonder. Elves are arrogant because that's the vibe that created them. And then there's the emotional relative scale. Super strong emotions negative ones create domains of dread in the Shadowfell. But mass murder creates only creates Redcaps in the Feywild. Because strong emotions in Shadowfell are by comparison to the material plane stronger there and vice versa for Feywild. The emotions of the material plane are compared to their.

The example that I like to point to is the wolf. Not werewolves or dire wolves, just plain old wolves. They have worthless defenses, but they are built to ambush and focus fire targets thanks to things like their Skills, Pack Tactics, and their ability to easily knock people Prone. Ambushes and focus fire the the EXACT things that level 1 characters are most vulnerable to, so an encounter with just 2 wolves can end with a dead player way too easily. Even if the survivors can mop up the wolves easily, that doesn't make John Dungeonman any less dead. Only CR 1/4 by the way.

My take: If you fudge you are deceiving your players. If I was a player at your table, and I found out or even suspected that you were fudging rolls, I'd leave your game immediately. If you can't run a fair game, don't.

I have a player thats been a problem in one of my campaigns recently that im unsure how to deal with. I once sat down with them and talked about it however it didnt really approve. Throughout most of the campaign they where very chill and organized had a fun time roleplaying and there character mirrored that in a sense where there character was chearful and happy. Durring one of our sessions there character got a whiff of something attached to there backstory and rather then getting more excited and pushing to learn more like before suddenly there character became extremely dark and edgy, aiming to commit self inflict and it was too the point where it effected the rest of the party. Im unsure where to go and would appreciate any ideas for where to go from here

For me, the book layouts, infantile art, and sanitizing of story concepts and Golarion as a whole to pander to certain rainbow elements of TTRPG's has made me less inclined to play. PF1e players, of which I played the bulk of my early tabletop, had a nuanced and mature mindset. PF2e has steered into the Reddit skid; replete with junking morality, alignment, and player choice. I'll browse War of Immortals, but nothing more after.

I am intrigued by critiques of the sacred cow that is hit points. This video does get into the narrative, drama and suspense. This is a legit concern. I think it may help to use the sneak strike mechanic. Legend of Zelda has a typical hit point system. Link's hit points are unusual for being displayed as a series of red hearts. It still counts though. Breath of the Wild does have the typical hit point system. It normally takes Link a few hits to kill a basic enemy like a bokoblin or moblin. However there is the option to sneak strike. Link can make an effort to sneak on an opponent. Then that increases the damage. I occasionally do this at night when enemies are sleeping. I sneak right up. Then...Bonk! I strike and kill the foe instantly. I can even do that without waking up the other sleeping foes. The stealth kills can be exciting if someone is into that. Personally I like to spam bomb arrows instead. To each thier own. I think sneak strike would help in the scenarios in the video. The video even has a similar scenario of a player slaying a sleeping foe. Sneak strike can apply to other scenerios in the video. It is good for mind controling and assassinating the politician. Even the villains can use it to kill the bard's sister. There are probably other scenarios. Sneak strike can be used in these special cases. I Googled it. The sneak strike in Breath of the Wild is eight times the normal weapon damage. That can be implemented in a TTRPG without much trouble. Feel free to adjust the damage multiplier. Sidenote. Fall damage can totally be a thing. The DM can decide how much damage that is depending on how long the fall is and how hard the ground is. Breath of the Wild does have fall damage. Worse case scenario is when one starts a new playthrough and they don't have the paraglider yet. It is a very easy mistake for a veteran to make. One casually jumps off a high place and plummets to their death. The paraglider can become second nature or muscle memory. So it is jarring to not have it in a new playthrough. Link is very fragile when he is freshly awoken from the resurrection chamber. He has low health and squishy armor. So he can easily die from falling, combat and other things. I highly advise sticking to easy gameplay untill one makes significant character upgrades.

With any kind of player, their playstyle has to at least somewhat mesh with the rest of the table, and they have to be willing to work together and compromise on things when disputes come up for the game to work. The power gamer isn't inherently bad, they simply make this fact more relevant. Stupid, ridiculous cheese is perfectly fine if the table is fine with it, and it's not perfectly fine when the DM and other players want a more balanced experience.

If you're having trouble rolling your Rs, consider that there are two ways English speakers pronounce R. More traditionally, it's in the back of the mouth with the tongue pulled back. However, modern speakers often pronounce it at the front of the mouth, with the tongue forward and the mouth in a kind of ooo shape. You can't roll your Rs in the latter mode. Only in the former. So be aware of how you're pronouncing it and learn to adjust.
