Hi, I am on my day 14 after surgery and I want to share with you how I lived this process WITHOUT ANY PAIN (Yes, it is possible). I am a medical student and I have seen patients with severe bone tumors that are destroying their spinal column which as you might imagine is extremely painful getting specific but safe painkiller medications that makes them feel nothing at all. Why would I have to tolerate an extreme pain that makes people not even sleep during 2 weeks after surgery? We are in the XXI century, science and medicine has evolved to take out pain for our patients. I explained this to my surgeon and anesthesiologist, both agreed to use a disposable IV pump containing low doses of painkillers like ketorolac (a NSAID stronger than ibuprofen), Tylenol and tramadol (a partial opioid, the weakest by far, it isn’t even half strong than morphine). I used that pump during the first 48h post surgery and I didn’t feel ANY pain at all, two hours after surgery I was so happy eating ice cream and watching tv and that night I slept as a baby for like 9 hours lol. Just after the infusion pump, I started oral medication only with ketorolac (shouldn’t use it for longer than five days) so in my fifth day I changed to tramadol which is perfectly safe if you respect the dosages (maximum is 400 mg a day, I was taking only 100mg a day). I stopped all my drugs on day 9 and I am perfectly fine today and happy that I didn’t experience any pain at all. Right now since I am not taking any drugs I have still a bit of pain when I eat solid stuff but is minimum. Now after saying all this, there are some things to clarify: these drugs can have side effects. Ketorolac is associated with a five-fold increased bleeding risk in adults but some studies say that this is not true at all, and the probability of a person to bleed without the drug is around 1%, so with the drug is 5% (it is still really unlikely to occur), for example I didn’t bleed at all. Tramadol can get you a bit sleepy and constipated (uncommon in short periods of time), if you start with some of these side effects you should stop the drug immediately. After saying all this, I am not suggesting you take these drugs. I suggest you to mention these medications to your doctor so he/she can decide if that is the best for you. All drugs have side effects (even Tylenol and omeprazole) but I decided to take those small risks and it was by far the best decision in my personal case. I hope ENT doctors stop to think that you must tolerate this huge pain only using Tylenol (the less effective drug for pain in the entire market). That is truly criminal and barbaric in my opinion.

For everyone else saying they have chronic stuffy nose (I do as well for many years). Please look into mold toxicity, mold illness, and mold allergies. It does not get enough attention by doctors and it seems that Functional Medicine doctors are usually the only ones that offer guidance for treatment. Just something to consider testing for since it is related to chronic stuffiness. A lot of mysterious health issues that doctors don't understand well can be linked to mold as well so if you're at a loss, start by getting a Mycotoxin Test or even better pair it with a CDSA (Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis) to find out what toxins, parasites, imbalanced bacteria, etc is going on. Some examples for companies are Vibrant Wellness and Doctor's Data Lab (there are many great options out there). Having a doctor interpret it and offer treatment is helpful as well since it usually involves assisting your body to detox properly since it is struggling. Mold and anti-inflammatory diets go hand in hand (most dairy, moldy foods, and a lot of conventional food are triggers). I'm not a doctor but mold has severely impacted my health so just trying to share some info for whoever needs it.🩷

After bleeding for a couple of hours, I found this and it worked! Thanks, saved me from the ER! Maybe find out why they get infected in the first place rather than remove them at once… Studies found long term issues will be asthma, allergy and IBS. Which is exactly what I got. They were removed when I was still a child.

@@faramund9865 researchers have figured out why people get chronic tonsillitis. Bacteria that live in the tonsil crypts cause recurring infections. But you bring up a good point…we always have to weigh risks and benefits of any surgery. Some patients hear the risks and say…I’d rather get strep every 3-4 months than undergo surgery. And that’s their choice.

Every monthly menstruation since 11yrs old I had chronic tonsillitis over & over! Dismissed by my GP. At 30yrs & 2 months I developed rare bilateral life threatening quinseys! Nearly blocked my airway! Emergency ambulance transfer & emergency tonsillectomy! Fast forward! My daughter exactly the same age minus 4 months! Same tonsillitis circle - month after miserable month! Constant antibiotics & no surgery! Paralysed our career/life paths! She's finally had surgery & is excelling! First 3/4 weeks were hell! But, worth it! Same post-op affects! Major weight loss, energy, clarity of thought! If you have recurrent tonsillitis - get them out! INSIST! It will free you up to start living!🎉 Take arnica pre & post op!Make sure you're strict with analgesia (set alarms) paracetamol & codine, 2hrs later ibuprofen & anti-emetic & rotate & repeat! SLEEP! Water, water water & whatever you can eat! 2nd week increase hard foods such as toast! The recovery is horrible! But SO worth it!

In need of a dire answer!! I will be getting just one tonsil out in a few days. The reason is that I get a lot of tonsil stones and have insecurities over my breath and just having food get caught in my right tonsil since it is enlarged. It nearly touches my uvula so it is out pretty far. I’ve never had strep from my tonsil, but I do get swollen throats from time to time when tonsil stones accumulate… honestly I hate the idea of surgery and now I’m stressed out since I already canceled surgery once.. do you think it’s necessary to get it taken out?? My worry is that I may have sleep apnea since my tonsil does touch the midline. Any help is appreciated !!

Mine were removed as a child. From research they found you will get asthma, allergies and irritable bowels. That is what I got also. Maybe try some conservative methods first. Like nose breathing, eating healthy, anything. Try and find what’s out there. If this doesn’t work it’s up to you to take the risk.

Constant runny nose and sneezing, doesn't always mean something wrong with the body. Im young and dealing with vasomotor rhinitis, been dealing with it for 4 years now and it's annoying. I get allergy tested twice and both were negative. Got XRay and Cat Scan and both were negative. I didn't have no polyps or nothing in my nose. I do have a slight deviated septum, but I never had issues with breathing tho. H**l I even got blood work done and nothing, it was NEGATIVE. People always negative and forget that everybodys issues is different. People forget things change in the body, other than "there's something wrong in the body". Our body do have nerves all through it, so the sinus has a nerve and you know how nerves work, they do alot. And sometimes, nerves do overwork itself.
