The only other group I heard a recorded version of the song was some group that was on a promotion series called sound sprouts about the time this festival was made. Also, one of my former churches in which I played worship guitar we did a version of Amazing Grace to this house of the rising Sun, melody.😊 fantastic vocals

So I have a guitar that was either mostly finished by Charlie or was collected by him. It is a real gem. A strange guitar for a few reasons.One of which, it is nameless. There is no label or anything written on the instrument to know where it came from. I bought it from a guy who bought from Charlie's estate sale after he passed. I've been looking ever since for his guitars online, to see if anyone is selling any and I never come across any, not even in old, already sold postings. Does anyone know what he labelled his guitars as? Was it just under his name or did he sell them under a different title? Just curious, I'm not actually looking to buy anything.

Just came upon this version of amazing Grace exploring the Florida folk festival. Interesting thing is I have some personal experience with this version both as a musician and also as a MUSIC record collector. Years ago, I ran into some promotional CD that had a bunch of new artist doing different songs and an upon a group that did this version of amazing Grace with electric guitars. Fast forward a few years I joined a church, became part of the music ministry, and the pastor had in his music collection the music to this song and made us do it at least once or twice in the congregation. So that’s a little bit nostalgic background. Bless you either way, let us not forget the grace that God has bestowed upon us through Jesus Christ. It saves us from our sins. Amen.

Fantastic. Who's the maker of those pipes? Trying to find out -- I see them being played by lots of top players but can't find out who made them! Thanks in advance.

I still remember the smell of going in his house. I gave him one of those old mandolins on his wall. I sold him a few guitars and bought a few from him as well. I bought a 1918 gibson L-4 from him and played it for about 10 years then sold it back to him so he would take care if it. What a great person he is. I learned a ton about repair from him and have fixed many instruments since then. Even an old 1915 F2 Gibson mandolin that was stepped on. I used what he taught me and brought it back to life.

First time I have seen this interview. Seeing Charlie in his element brings his voice and manner to me. A friend, more than a good friend. The best. I liked the part where he mentions me giving him Jirousek #1 which he made for my best friend Bruce Berglund. I traded it for an eighteenth century C.F. Minel viola. He hated to part with that viola but I see that 12 string and how many times he and I and Bruce played together at the Riverside Cafe come flooding in. A fresh wave I can hear the joy and their laughter. Both gone now and I miss Charlie and Bruce immensely. Still have an F style arrowhead mandolin. For sale actually. Bobby, you saw the future of our State. Its doomed. Glad we can sing about it still but the glory days are gone. Welcome Walmart and CVS and Walgreens and 7-11 on EVERY CORNER so we all look the same and shop the same. No small towns or local owned anymore! YAY!!! Let's all be generic clones!

this is dulcimer not psaltery
@Madbeachbum
@Madbeachbum Жыл бұрын
The difference between the two is how they are played. The strings of the psaltery are plucked with the fingers, while dulcimer strings are struck with small mallets or hammers. Technically, both instruments are from the same family of instruments called board-zithers.

That was just awesome. I’ve often noticed the regulators while listening to and watching uilleann pipes being played but that’s the first time I ever heard someone explain that part in the instrument. It all becomes clear as he kicks them in at the end of this video. For all that’s going on with that instrument he’d probably be a natural flying a helicopter.

It's simple. All you have to do is control the chanter with the fingers of both your hands, the bellows with your arm, the bag with your other arm, the regulators with the side of your hand, and the end of the chanter wih your knee. Drones play all alone, and you have your mouth free in case you want to play some harmonica along.
