Many years ago, Ski Patrol would use bombs or small artillery rounds to boom loose snow from high risk avalanche areas in the morning before the resort would open. They don't do that anymore?

The real tragedy was that crazy flute breakdown at the end of the song!!! I've heard a lot of wild guitar solos but never a flute solo!

Check out Jethro Tull, Locomotive Breath - If you wanna skip to the solo, pop in at about 2 min 40 sec. Then check out Bungle in the Jungle just for fun.

Someone recently told me Europe is much more of the Wild West in terms of marking hazards and avalanche control - more mentality that the rider must assess and manage own risk. Never rode there so not sure if that's true, but that looked like slope that would always be bombed in North America,

Life isn't always about 'staying safe' ..when we live, when we truly live our lives, things can happen even when we mitigate the danger as much as possible. RIP to all those that lost their lives in this tragic accident.

What a fcuking fool!!! Why do people ( snowboarders?) think that they are so “tough and adventurous”. Being a poser and putting other people (who have to come and rescue them when it all goes pearshape) at risk for their kicks???

What about the handful who were engulfed at the tail end, they were into it only as it ebbed but still got knocked around. Snowboarder took the worst of it when going over the rock outcropping.

"Go Straight and fast"? Yes - good advice if you *can* outrun it but the snow beneath you is literally boiling and running like a river. To me, it felt like trying to drive a motorcycle on a floor of ball bearings in a room that was being tilted randomly by the hand of god. I hope the guy in that one did not hit the rocks near the tower. That is very ugly.

Aerial footage showed the fracture line area , so it could've been avoided to begin with......You'd think with the helicopter they would've surveyed the area first , before the boarder decended....Careless ...Did the boarder survive ?...Did he have one of those brightly colored inflated snow bubbles avalanche devices ?...I didn't see it....
