Thank you so much for another brilliant video. You won't believe how much this has helped me.👏 I am doing a Hong Kong seam finish on an unlined jacket. This hack is just brilliant for this application because the back side of the Hong Kong seam is left unfinished, and I did not quite care for that look. My binder gives me a finished width of 8mm, this is a tad too wide. Is there a hack to get that finished width to 6mm, without buying another binder? My current binder is a double fold, 30mm to 8mm. Thank you again.

The only way to get a slightly narrower bind is to adjust the bumpers. You would need to pull them closer to the binder. If this will achieve your required width I can not say.

@@rebeccassewingcorner49 Thank you so much. Your suggestion worked! I moved the bumpers all the way to the right, and I had to cut my strip slightly narrower. This gave me the desired width. Thank you again for your binder videos.

Hello, I’ve never owned a cover stitch machine in all my many years of sewing. But when needing to take up hem on my granddaughter’s formal dress and it was made with Lycra, I struggled to replicate the stitch. This was when I decided to purchase one, (4 more girls to go). Your very welcome explained instructions made me decide to get the binding attachment too. Thank You so very much 😊

How do you go over the bias seams with this attachment? I used the Babylock Euphoria and it does NOT see well over the bias tape connecting seams very well. They get hung up under the needle!

The binder in general does not like bulk. I try to avoid it any way possible. When I do have it I use my beloved hammer and give everything a solid whack or two to reduce. Also I glue things together in advance to keep them in place while going thru the binder. So glue - whack and guide.

I think if your binding is going that far there are other challenges. Sometimes it us just planet the right fab, not cut precisely, foot pressure too high...it really could be a lot of things

Thanks for this excellent tutorial. So much more informative than the information (or lack of) provided by said manufacturer! I had a question about the position of the rake, but I found the answer in a previous comment. Loosened the screws and flipped it upside down so I can move it forward as well as backwards. Very important to me to be able to create more stretch in the binding as I sew a lot with knits.

Great tutorial. Thank you. Do you have any advice on why I can't get my single-fold knit binding to work? The stitch just won't enclose the raw edge. It works beautifully with woven fabric, but the knit, even a stable knit similar to the heart fabric you show, fails me. The raw edge lands left of the left needle. Even fusing interfacing to the knit makes no difference. I've set up my machine exactly as you described, with the upper bumper 2-3 mm left of the lower bumper, and the lower bumper lined up with the left needle. The settings work great with woven fabric, with the coverstitch nicely straddling the raw edge, but not at all with the knit. Thanks for any advice.
@purplebouquetnn2956
@purplebouquetnn2956 2 жыл бұрын
I worked it out. Tip to share with others who may be struggling with the settings: use a long strip of fabric to test, 24-30 inches, rather than short ones. Insert, sew a couple of inches, observe the results without removing the fabric. Adjust the settings one at a time in small increments, sew a couple of inches, observe the results and keep repeating and adjusting until everything aligns just right.
