Very helpful - clear and easy to follow. I was previously in doubt as to whether I should have purchased single fold binders, but not anymore.😉 Can’t wait to try this out.

Thank you for a clear, well done video. I had a Janome 1000cp for years and just bought a new Baby Lock Euphoria. I have several single fold binder attachments and I am contemplating if I want to use them. I don't like the look of the open shoulder that one has to use with binders which is why my binders have been sitting unused for years. But, I do like a cb seam in knits for fitting and closing the back neck is much less obvious.

Thank you so much for another brilliant video. You won't believe how much this has helped me.👏 I am doing a Hong Kong seam finish on an unlined jacket. This hack is just brilliant for this application because the back side of the Hong Kong seam is left unfinished, and I did not quite care for that look. My binder gives me a finished width of 8mm, this is a tad too wide. Is there a hack to get that finished width to 6mm, without buying another binder? My current binder is a double fold, 30mm to 8mm. Thank you again.

The only way to get a slightly narrower bind is to adjust the bumpers. You would need to pull them closer to the binder. If this will achieve your required width I can not say.

@@rebeccassewingcorner49 Thank you so much. Your suggestion worked! I moved the bumpers all the way to the right, and I had to cut my strip slightly narrower. This gave me the desired width. Thank you again for your binder videos.

Hi Rebecca, I have a question- Your binding strip was a little bit wavy in a section but what would you change if the binding was really wavy? I am asking because I have done binding where it has ended up really wavy and the neckline of the t shirt gaped. I have a Babylock Coverstitch as well. Thanks for your video. I really appreciated the information.

Check your differential first - it should be at N and for sure not higher. If that does not do it then you need to pull the rake forward. I cover the function of the rake and tension in my in depth video.

I’ve just completed my first ‘paper hack’ and it worked brilliantly. Many thanks for the detailed video. I had to have a join in my woven fabric binding as I didn’t have enough fabric to cut a single length. The top edge of the binding has slightly dipped where the join is. Do you have any tips for me please? Many thanks again. Janie

Hi Jane - I am not 100% sure what to recommend. I do not usually use woven in my binder. I would recommend that you of course join at 45 degree angle - like purchased bias is done at. Maybe you share a picture in the facebook coverstitch group and "we" can have a look.

Is the finished binding narrower or wider or the same this way? Apart from being 3 fold.

Hi Rebecca! Stumbled upon your video when I was looking for info on how to use these BL knit binders and I am so glad that I did! Can you provide more details on EXACTLY HOW you cut out your knit binding strips? I know it sounds self explanatory but what type of ruler do you use to get the precise 36mm width needed? Thanks in advance!
@rebeccassewingcorner49
@rebeccassewingcorner49 4 жыл бұрын
The long quilting ruler gives you a straight edge. I use my metric hand gauge to measure from the edge of my straight fresh cut to the 36mm or whatever the width I need. Of course measuring up and down the edge at several spots to make sure it is straight.

If you are in an area where metric is not used search on Amazon for them you will find...at least I have been told so...

Thanks for this video, super helpful! When you are using this on a pattern with ¼” seams, would you trim off ¼” around everything you’re binding? Also, if you are replacing bands in a pattern (which are usually 85%), do you do any thing different as far as tension to draw that fabric in around the neckline as the band would have?
@rebeccassewingcorner49
@rebeccassewingcorner49 4 жыл бұрын
To your question about trimming. Actually this really depends! usually where you are doing binding a pattern was using a band. Keep in mind that you are omitting the band and its width. So you really need to "think away" the seam allowance of both the object and band and then add the width of the remaining band. If you add this amount and then bind then you would have the same neckline. The short version is - I do nothing and assume that it will work just fine - the differences are not that large. To using binding instead of bands - as mentioned in the video your strip for the binding should be a healthy length. ie your project PLUS a bit to start and end. If not you might end up playing chicken and might not win. Also as mentioned in the video the tension is adjusted using the rake. You should try it out a few times to get a feeling for what you like. At a right angle it might be too much for your taste...left straight might not be enough. I am usually around what you see in the video.
